I have a 90mm C Elmar for more then 20 years and was always very happy with it. It is now used with the M8 and produces excellent results.
I don't own a Hexar, but I see no reason why there should be any problems

I am pretty sure it is a fault. There is not really anything to know about the lens (exept the push/pull manual focus). I had your problem with a Canon zoom I had to get it fixed by Canon.
Sorry about the bad news.

I use 39mm filters with the 40mm Summicron and 40.5mm with the 40mm Rokkor. The 39mm does not srew in completely but it works ok.

Hi,
I have a Mamiya AFD for a month now and am not winning with respect to Autofocus. It is just the way it is designed that makes it pretty useless. I have given up for the moment and will use manual focus when I get my microprism screen tomorrow. Sorry to be of not much help!

t.... what I love about it is the SIMPLICITY and TOTAL CONTROL I have with the camera. With the simple spot meter I can get dead on exposure either with a grey card or using the zone system. The focus is manual, so I am not fighting the camera performing a focus and exposure function when I may want two separate functions for the scene. I can easily flip a switch to do multiple exposures any time I want, something NO digital camera can do. Exposure compensation is a simple dial with + and - numbers on it. Another switch will lock up the mirror at any time. If I want to chage aperture i just turn to what I want on the lens. Shutter speed? ... a simple knob with numbers on it sets to whatever I want."
I was always wondering why I was not using the %D any more after I bought the M* and now the ZD back for the Mamiya 645. It really is the uncomplicated use of theses cameras which help me to get more keepers than ever before (especially since I found out that the Autofocus is badly off with the Mamiya and I am using manual focus).

basically all 645 lenses, plus Hasselblad (non auto focus)lenses with adapter and the Mamiya 6x7 lenses with adapter.

Yes you can use C lenses and they work nicely with focus confirm (little green dot in the viewfinder if in focus).
The only drawback is that you must manually set your working aperture after you have finished focussing.

Hi all,
I will be getting a Mamiya 645 AFD next week and trying to find a budget macro
lens for it. My dealer has an 80mm macro lens for a reasonable price and I was
wondering if anybody has experience with this lens?
I would appreciate your comments.

I don't think this is lens distortian, it is just the perspective. I like it very much.

Hi,
I was wondering if this applies to all Ms also the M8? I am using the Summicron a lot and I am very happy with it, the Rokkor will arrive in a few weeks and I suppose I will find out.
I am using a 90mm Rokkor and this one is spot on.

Hi Harry,
I have the M8 since November and can only advise not to use it for colour without the IR cut filter. Green especially converts quite often, especially in the shade into a muddy greenish brown. I just got an old Canon 28 and I go through what you go through because I do not have the correct filter size.

Hi David,
coding the lenses is not really a problem. I just had all mine done by John Milich in New York - $25 a piece - and it took only 2 weeks. I live in Australia, so it should not take longer for you. I also bought a coded adapter from John - quite pricey $150 - but beautifully done and works very well.

Leica M 8 Batteries
in Leica and Rangefinders

Hi,
I am using 2 $13 Hongkong made batteries for 2 month now and they are as good and as bad as the 3 original ones. One of the original
ones even does not last as long as the after market ones.
The price difference here in Australia is about $150. If I buy 3 I can buy a VC lens from the difference. But why would you buy a $400 lens
from Voigtlander if you spent 5000 bucks for a camera.
