1.
I have two tripods, both are metal, CF is too expensive for me. The first one is Gitzo G1118 with a FLM ballhead, this is the small one which is about 22 inches long ( too long or too short ? ) I think it is not very cumsy to carry it, another one is a Bogen 3021 with a huge Foba Superball, this is a heavy duty one, I always put this in car just in case I need to use it. As all other people say, it depend what you want and how to use them. Most people they buy a lot of stuff such as they have a good tripod, unfortunately, they seldom carry and use them.

  2.
I just help my friend buy one from Amazon- Pelican Padded Tripod Bag 28 Inch. It fits his CXpro4, Pelican's quailty is pretty good and you can trust. Not sure this one is too big for the 055cxpro3 or not. Anyway the size is 28". Including shipping, it cost approx. $40.

  3.
Hi, I use Nikon AH-4. Although my canera is a Canon. I purchase it from ebay, they ship from Korea. The strap is leather made, best of all, it comes with a Arca compatible release plate which you can install the hand strap and the neck strap at the same time, most of the release plate they can only install either one. This one is cheap compare to a Arca plate, of course, it depends on what kind of ballhead you have. Since my ballheads they all Arca compatible, so this is really a good deal. Hopefully, this can help.

  4.
Akira, thank you for your reply, however, I do see some pictures that the release arm is on the left hand side, yesterday, I tried to unscrew the arm, and there is a square stud all the way to the other side of the ballhead, you can fee it l if you move the stud, unfortunately, I cannot pull the stud out, I wonder there should be a way to pull it out. If the arm is on the left hand side that will be perfect, since I can hold the camera by right hand and lock the head the other side, seems this make more sense and logic to me. I don't understand why Foba do the arm like this. May be there is a reason that I don't understand.

  5.
Hi, I recently purchase a Foba superball, but I realised the release arm is on the right hand side, I just can't figure out how can I switch the arm to the other side, if anyone can tell me what I should do.

  6.
I have a similar situation as you. I use the 5D as primary and got the 40D as backup. Prime lens I have 50mm f1.4 and 100mm f2.0 which I use Kenko ring for the marco shot. Zoom lens I use Tammy 17-35mm and 28-75mm, also a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8. I'm pretty happy with my setup, unless I have extra money, I prefer to purchase more prime lens instead of zoom lens. I think you might need a telezoom first, Canon 70-200mm f4.0 is a good choice, mine f2.8 is a bit heavy and cumsy to me, but the IQ that I can't let it go.

  7.
Thank you to all of you guys. Graham, that's is exactly what confuse me, since the focal length and the aperture, they all affect the DOF. At the beginning, I think 140mm focal length will give me better out of focus effect, but on the other hand, it step down my aperture to increase my DOF. That's what I don't understand. After you explain, I will try again. I haven't got any good chance to try it yet. Anyway, photograhgy is a really interesting thing, and a lot of things to learn. Thanks again.

  8.
Thank you to answer my question for both gentleman. So, my focal length is 140mm in this case, And if I set the aperture to f5.6 in AE mode. My DOF still f5.6 not f8.0. And my shutter speed will automatic slower to justify for the correct exposure. Am I right?

  9.
I recently purchase a 1.4x tele-converter, I don't quite understand that if I use a 100mm lens and the aperture is set to f2.8, then the converter will make me lost 1 step exposure. So, should I need to increase the exposure +1 or not. Secondly, about the depth of field. Is my picture's depth of field still same as 100mm or it is same as a 140mm lens? See anyone can help me to understand this. Thanks

  10.
About 2 to 3 weeks ago, I post a question about the error comes up after taking photo and will not display the review screen. I try everything I know and even bought a "Deoxit" to clean the electronic contacts. It doesn't work. Finally, I shipped to Canon, thay charged me $134.64 including shipping. The result is they replace the PCB assembly which was inoperative causing an error to be displayed. It comes back today, everything seems back to normal. Good thing I have a $100 repair vochure, so I actually paid $34.64 only. So, just want to let people know if they have the same problem. Touch wood, hopefully you don't have this problem at all.

  11.
Thank you for the advise, I found a clamp to fit to my Linhof ball head which I didn't purchase it originally. That's from my relatives. Anyway, Thanks for the input.

  12.
Hi,
Recently, I purchase a Arca quick release plate from Camdapter, I thought my ballhead can fit it, unfortunately, I found that my release clamp is wider than the plate, so I'm considering to purchase another ballhead, I don't know any brand of ballhead can fit this or with the Arca standard. if any one has the Arca plate and use some other brand ballhead. Otherwise I need to buy a Acratech which I like it though. But if I can save a few buck would be great. Any recommandation will be welcome.

  13.
Just report the lens status that somebody might want to know if they have the same problem, I set the aperture at f/22 and press the depth of field button, keep step up, and realise the blade did not move, might be 3 to 4 step up and move a bit but not the accurate aperture I set. And also see no oil on the blade at all. So my conclusion is the lens must mal-function and need to send to Canon for repairing. Good thing I receive the $100 repair vochure from Canon. Hopefully, the cost will not sky high and not worth to repair.

  14.
Hi, Merry Christmas.
I have a question about EF 85mm f/1.8. I shoot some pics for my party at home with 5D last night, I use several lens. Sigma and Canon lens. While I shoot with 85mm, I got the ERR01 message which I can take picture but the picture review will not show up, until I re-focus and I press the play button, It will show the last pic I shoot. So, I try to use some other lens, see if it is the camera's problem, good thing they are all good, I mean after I shoot, the pic comes up immediately. At that moment, I don't have time to figure out what happen. Therefore, I test the lens this morning, I shot with all apertures, And realise that only happens at the f/2.0 and f/2.2 will get the ERR01 message, I need to do the same thing as I re-focus and press play button. All other Apertures are fine and even the f/1.8. Anyone got the same problem, I just don't know that is the lens mechanical problem or that is a immature problem that can not be fix. I search web sites and found the 17-85mm got the err01 but most of them didn't mention my situation with some aperture is fine and some not. Any information will be welcome.

  15.
Hi, I just purchase a 70-200mm F/2.8 sigma lens which it miss the lens collar, my question will the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 collar fit it as well ? It is because ebay got some after market is cheaper than the sigma original, about $15 VS TS-21 $75. Anyone knows it. Thanks

  16. Thank you for all the input. Ed, you exactly mentioned what I want to know as xti's LCD is always on. But the 5d is not unless you press the button. Right? I think as all you say, my camera is O.K. Thanks again.
  17. Hi, I just purchased a Canon 5d, I have a xti before, my question is the back screen of 5d, is it always off unless you

press the info button? It is kind of differnt between xti, xti is always on until you get close to the viewfinder and it will

turn off the screen automatically. So I don't know if the 5d is not the same or mine is a defected one. Thanks

  18. I'm going to purchase a Canon flash light, probably 580EX II or 430EX II, I have a EF 70-300mm IS lens, I can't find

any information about the compatibilty of this lens with the ETTL technology. I only have 3 Canon lens those are

50mm/1.4, 85mm/1.8 and this 70-300mm IS. I know the 85mm is compatible with ETTL, but not the 50mm/1.4. Does

any body know if the 70-300mm can transmit the information to the body or not? If not, I might consider other brand,

price wise and power wise, there are more options instead of 580EX which I can't even benefit from it's advantage.

  19. I've this Canon 70-300mm IS, I doubted if I can use the 2x converter. the

manufacturer web site mention it can not use the converter. So I dare not to

purchase one. Anyone try it before or any sample. Thanks
