There are a few minor tweaks to this image I would make.

I would crop the top of the image . Basically crop out the top horizontal board running through the girl's head. I would burn in the highlights of the pink shirt. They are a little to bright for me and pull my eye from the little girl. I would lighten the shadow in the girl's face to show more detail and to help pull the viewer's eyes to her face. I would also lighten the shadow area of the book to get more detail. The book is a little lost in the shadows. I would Also burn in some of the highlights in the background. This will help keep the viewers eyes from wondering all over the place.

The exposure looks pretty good, especially with the extremes is shadow and highlights. I might have tried a slightly lower angle to show more of the girls face. These are all very minor tweaks I am suggesting. This is is a very nice image, in a difficult lighting situation.

Here are some the basic I would make a slight crop on the right side and the top to remove the sky. I would also burn in (darken) the concrete, the edge and her knee. I also increased the contrast and saturation a little. Overall this is a nice image these are minor tweaks. In terms of image capture I like the contrast between the girl and the environment. One of the minor weaknesses here is the on camera flash I would have dialed it down by 1/2 - 1 f/stops match the ambient light. The other option would have been to use reflectors. The last very minor thing is the pose. The lens which looks to be a some what of a wide angle at least 50mm is making legs look big and is pull away from her face. Maybe a longer lens and her leaning more into the shot. Because the way image is shot I do not have an issue with the cropped foot because it would have exaggerated in size in the image. These are minor tweaks I would make, and I am far from an expert. This still a very nice image.

  1. I like the concept but it seems a little off the mark for me. I see a few things I might change to give the image more pop. Remember these are some minor tweaks not any more than that.

    (1) The boxing glove, I feel needs to be at least 2/3 in the frame to be more effective. Also I would like more depth of field. The reasons for this glove is just not imposing or threatening the way you have it cropped.

    (2) lighting, The lighting here is a little flat for me. You have a dynamic subject but the lighting takes away from the intensity. I would go for more of a Rembrandt (3/4) lighting to give your subject power and drama.

    (3) darken down the highlights, The shirt and the background is to light for me they pull my eyes away from you subjects intensity.

    (4) The angle, I would have used a forced perspective and a wide angle like a 12mm to increase the drama and tension in the image. The framing is a little stagnate for me.

Overall this is a good image. I really like were you are going with it. I am far from an expert I am just saying what I would change.
