  1. Thanks Jerry. The lighting on her face is what I was going for to begin with. I wanted her lit only by the light coming in the airport window.

I agree about the eyes. The problem with the eyes having more room in this photo is that the photo is cropped very tight. I wanted to remove all the other people around her. The airport gets very crowded when the soldiers come home.

Now that I think of it, I may redo the photo with the other people in it and just blur them around her. May be a cool effect. Hmmmm. Coffee's kicking in so the brain is starting to work.

I love photographing the kids when I do these honor missions. Their innocence really pulls at your heart when they see their mom or dad walk off the plane.

Here's another shot of her watching for the plane:

    Thanks again for the comments

Very nice looking photo and pose. I love the eyes.

You might look at reducing the hot spots on her chin, cheek, and above her eye. It kinda gives her an oily look on one side.

Thanks Mike. I do need to watch the shadows more. As for the 1.4, it was mostly playing around with it. I'll work more on the lighting.

    Thanks for the tips.

  2. Thanks. Looking back at the photo of the setup, I see that I didn't move the reflector as I should have. It was still off to her right. Not very effective. Next time I'll move the main closer and make sure I get the reflector in the right place. Maybe using a white back drop instead of red would also help.

Here's a link to the color one before I soften the skin and converted it to BW:

    Thanks again.
