  1. Thank you, this will solve the vigneting issue.

    _

Am I loosing field of view?_

What does that mean regarding magnification?

    _

    For example

    _

    F100__with 25mm looks like 25mm_

    D200__with 25mm looks like 37mm or so_

2/3? C-mount__with 25mm looks Like ???_(any estimate is fine.)

    _

What simple magnification reduction lens adapter C-mount to C-mount would be available?

    _

I understand I can just get a simple security camera lens

    fitted for c-mount.

What I found is they are difficult to focus.

    I may reevaluate that option.

    _

I have not had time to work much on this project, exempt checked one store that did not have it on hand.

    _

    Thank you

    Alexander

    PS:

What I already got s a 25mm manual lens for f mount and an 85mm as well.

    _

The sensor is small 2/3?CCD about 1300x1000 but it can micro-step and gets res. around to 4000x3000

It has a good dynamic range as well 2000:1.

I want to play with some lower light stuff since I have it available, just for my own inspiration.

The camera has do be run via a desktop PC so I will not travel far with this setup.

  2. I want to use some of my F mount Objectives with a c-mount digital camera.

    (I found adapters from $30 -$160

    Mfr# VA304 ? B&H# GBCMN

    Mfr # LANICJ? B&H # CELANICJ

    Mfr# 2360 ? B&H# NIAFC

Has anyone experience how well it works?

I am wondering about vinetting (cut of the vield of view) , the Chip of the

    c-mount camera is 2/3inch.

  3. Hello Andre,

    I hope you got the D200 , 25ZF combination.

You didn?t say for what type of picture you are using this set up.

I have the D200 and the 25ZF and love it.

This lens inspired me. I am exited every time I can use it.

The lens has character and charm and when under stood is a beautiful tool.

It is a great lens if you have time to take the picture.

The Zeiss lens is less noticeable (vs my AFS Zoom) and works well with the build in flash.

The color reproduction is fantastic and has a emotional factor to it (like good wine)

(The sharpening function in the Nikon software does not work as well

with the zeiss lens in compared to the Nikon AF-S lens but the better color makes up for it.)

In situations where I need ?instant? focus I use a 28-70mm 2.8 AFS.

(this lens I over all like, except that it clips the build in flash of the D200.

So I have to carry a separate flash and this big lens.

I only shoot for personal use and hate when people take notice of my equipment.

    PS

I find the comments in reference to the ?close up? test amusing.

Does this matter? What type of close up picture? With a wide angle?

I can only see the point if you snap very flat samples.

( and then your object must be perfectly plan parallel with the lens.)

In my world, I hand hold the camera and lens and play with the angle

To take (for my personal use) interesting pictures.

  4. I just got my ZF 25mm today. ?..It is all I expected.

    Very sharp.

    Wonderful color.

I like that the aperture is noted by the D200.

The D200 (focus meter) ?Electronic Range finder? works very well.

My 2.8 AFS Objectives clip (the AF assist light of the D200.)

The build in flash works without making a shadow.

( If I leave a filter or Polarizer on my 17-35mm2.8 AFS and 28-70mm 2.8 AFS

I get a shadow with the build in flash.)

I like that the lens is small with great performance

(With my 2.8 AFS Nikon objectives people always look at theses big lenses

and all I wanted is great Zoom lenses)

To my surprice it is very easy to manual focus and to confirm

Focus with the ?Electronic Range finder?

(I am used to the super fast autofocus from my AFS objectives and

was worried going with a manual lens.)

Vision is very subjective, for me just looking in the viewfinder

I thought the ZF 25mm Zeiss is optically is a lot better than my 17-35mm 2.8 Nikon.

(I like all my Nikon Zoom but feel the 28-70mm 2.8 works better with the D200

    over the 17-35mm 2.8.)

I will now mainly use the 28mm-70mm 2.8 AFS and the 25mmZF.

    (Before I used the 17-35mm 2.8 AFS and a 85mm Nikon)

The cost, well you get what you pay for.

Not to say that some lower cost equipment are necessarily bad.

It all just depends what you need and want.

If I had poor eyesight or poor color perception I would not buy it.
