<p>looking on canons web site these sell for identical and have minor differences on the tech sheets.<br>
both are 18M, but the RAW file for the T3 is 18, while the T2 RAW is 24. and the T3 has 1/3 and 1/2 stop increments metering while no mention of partial stops is mentioned on the T2. those are the ones i saw that i care about, but are their others ? what really separates these 2 cameras ? other bells n' whistles ? image quality ? weather sealing ?</p>
<p>thanks.</p>

<p>when i edit in DPP i make all my modifications to all images, then close the program. when i click to close DPP a window pops up saying "image was edited - do you want to save", and i have yes, no, yes to all, no to all as options. and there is no destination option to choose where they save to. i click yes to all, they save as a .cr2, and the program closes. next time in DPP the image is as i saved it if i said yes. if i say no i go into DPP again and they were not saved. but no boxcar file shows up in DPP w/ the same file name like it does w/ ACR when i save a raw.<br>
and thanks for the fyi on the color space in camera. one less variable for me to worry about when having problems.<br>
i should find a class somewhere or something, it is hard getting tutored over a forum. much simpler when my keystrokes and process can be seen. i am sure i am missing something and it'll be simple... always seems easy AFTER figuring it out !</p>

<p>adobe rgb 1998.<br>
also i forgot to mention that when i do my dpp processing and save those raw files, when i look at the thumbnail previews in the desktop folder, they are not changed. when i save in dpp is that saving only in dpp, like a boxcar file that is dpp sepcific ? if so, how can i change that, or can i ?</p>
<p>god a wet darkroom was soooooo much simpler ! digital mediums make my brain hurt.</p>

<p>i shoot w/ an xti in the adobe rgb color space and use dpp set to adobe rgb color space for my initial post processing. once done and i have a better raw file, i save. when i open the file in cs3 it is always this flat dull lifeless image and i have to start all over. even if i do no processing the files in cs3 always look like crap compared to the in camerae raw. and trying to export from dpp to cs3 by tools - transfer to photoshop always gives me a "dpp viewer module has stopped working" message and dpp closes, cs3 opens, and i have no image transfered. what am i missing ? i'd really appreciate some guidance.</p>

does anyone have a suggestion for where i can obtain as good a scan as possible
from my old 35mm b&w neg's ? most are tmz.

thanks don, that makes sense and clears it all up for me.

you are all very helpful, thank you so much !
i don't know if i am a serious photographer, but i am serious about my photography. i liek to do things to the highest possible quality (or at least have the option) and am meticulous and very picky. that said, i will likely never be swapping faces or doing editing of that sort. mostly i want to do all i could do in my old stinky wet darkroom, plus some that i couldn't but digital editing makes possible (or easier). i have never been a heavy editor. that means i screwed up the exposure and i prefer to not do that.
it sounds like lightroom would be a good place to start.
maybe one more q ? i do not understand "global adjustments". can lightroom not convert to a 16bit tiff after editing my .cr2 and then edit that 16 bit tiff image as well ? why would i need to export it to another program ?
i need to choose a product it seems then find a tutorial for that specific one, huh ?

this new digital world is overwhelming.
i need some editing software other than what came w/ my 400d. i see all these
adobe products - cs, lightroom, elements, ps - and what separates them from one
another besides price ? the 2 aspects that seem most important to me right now
are -
1) what products support 16 bit editing ? &
2) what product supports the most raw editing options ?
and also, any recommendation for a tutorial or "how to" book for digital
editing in general or specific to a good product ?
i just want to print the prettiest pictures i can.<div></div>

ummmmmmm.... oops. well, in true MAN fashion, instead of reading the instructions i just went straight to trying to use it. then i found the teeny tiny print that said "digital photo pro 2.2 not compatible w/ windows me". *dirty words*. and my ancient version of ps5 does not read the canon raw format. looks like its time fro an upgrade...
thanks, though, beau.

so i just got a 400d and download teh included software. the disk SAYS digital
photo pro 2.2 is on it, but, voila ! it is not ! what teh heck ? is there some
magic i must perform ? when i go into explore disk i see teh files there, but
how do i get to download them onto my pc so i can actually USE it ?
thanks.

hey,
i remember years ago making "masques" to determine which focal length lens to
use on the 4x5 w/out having to go thru the whole process of actually putting
the lens on the 4x5. i cut out a 4x5 section of a larger 8x10 matte board. this
i used to frame a scene i was pondering and depending upon its distance from
the eyes it gave me the focal length i wanted to match that crop. so if i held
it 12" from the eyes one focal length was indicated. 24" from the eyes
indicated another, etc. does anyone knwo what i am talking about and have some
more info for me (again) ?
thx.
