Sony does take responsibility for repairs, but I was told it will cost at least $300... I was thinking I might be able to try something first...

I bought my Maxxam 5D over 2 years ago, but about a year ago it stopped
working properly. Every so often when I turn it on it makes a quiet clicking noise
for a few seconds (my guess is that it is the sensor working) and then the noise
stops, but it will not take pictures after that. I have found if I turn it off and let it sit
for 30 minutes or so it works fine when I turn it back on. I have taken it in to a
camera shop and the guy was stumped. Anyone ese out there experienced this?

I recently bought a new Canon 40D, and before I go off rapid shooting I have a
concern... Does the camera ever wear-out from taking pictures over time? For
example, do digital cameras have a certain amount of photos that they can take
and then the quality diminishes? Is this true for memory cards as well?
Also, does the rapid shooting hurt the camera? Especially when the red light is on
processing one picture, and I take another one right after?
Please help me as I am new at this and I love my 40D and want to keep it in good
condition!

oh, I just checked out the 55-250... I like it... does anyone know why it has IS but is still so affordable ($299)?

I am looking at buying a Canon EF 70-300 lens for my 40D. The difference in price
between the lens with the image stabilizer and the one without is $400. Is it worth
it? In low light I usually use a tripod, and my tele lens is mostly used for close-up
shots, not really action shots. I am leaning toward the lens without the stabilizer,
but don't want to kick myself later for not getting it. Any help? Thanks!

thank you... maybe it is that 17-85 lens...

I am in need of help trying to figure out what lenses to get for my new Canon 40D...
I am going to buy a new 40D that comes with an 18-85 lens. After that, I am
stumped... do I spend my remaining $800 on a really good tele lens or get a more
moderate tele lens and something like an 85 fixed for portriats? Macro lens
perhaps? I want to be able to do new things...
Most of my photos are soon after Photoshopped, and I travel a lot so my subjects
seem to be a variety of things, from close-up nature shots, portriats, beach shots,
night photography, etc.
I have been shooting for a long time, and currents use a Konica-Minolta Maxxam
5D (which I am not in love with), but I am just getting into the specifics of SLR
accessories, lens options, etc...
Any advice from people who know better than me will be appreciated!
