  1. Hi, I am also a Rollei user from HK. I had use the 6008I in Huangshan and Bashing (Inner Mongolia), I do not have any problem but I would expect you to bring at least two to three batteries. The batteries use up very quickly in these temperatures. I do experience with -20 to -30 but the camera was exposed at temperature at -10. You need to be very careful when you bring the camera in door. Wait a while to open the camera bag so that the camera will catch all the moisture in the room due to significant temperature difference.
  2. In respect of Adams posting, Bokeh means the sharp of the light shadow on out of focus area. If the lens had a good aperture blade set up ( 9-11 blades say), the shadow will come in round shape and not disturbing. IF the aperture blade is in some odd sharp ( say 5 blades), a Pentagon light shadow will appear. Of course, the lens design has also some effect on the bokeh too but the no of aperture blades had a very direct effect on the outcome of the bokeh.
  3. The no of blades of the lens had a direct effect on the bokeh. If you look at the Leica M lens, they normally have more than 7 blades and the sharp of the aperture is closed to a circle. The sharp of the out focus area therefore close to a circle. This explain why Leica lens especially the M lens usually have a better bokeh than the other lens. Unfortunately, Hasselblad lens had only 5 blades and the bokeh is not always very nice. Same as ROllei lens too as the no of blades in this lens also affected by the leaf shutter. Some Rollei lens had "star" shape bokeh which is not very nice.
  4. Personally, I do not like the 45mm and the distortion is not very pleasant. The Zoom is close to the fixed focal lens quality except for the small aperture. I am very happy with the zoom and it is essential replace the standard lens and the wide angle lens that I am carrying.
  5. While I mean to yellowish cast, I mean it is sort of comparision and depends on the film that you used. The cast is consistent with the other Exakta lens, I have 60mm and 140-280mm too and they all have the same color setting. Since I am usign RVP, the cast is OK and only apparent when you doing a A to B compariosn. The lens is quite sharp and offer good value when you compare the Rollei Tele-Xener ( This price is three times the prce that I got the Exakta mount).
  6. Luckily, I have both Schneider lens, Rollei and Exakta mount. I do not know wether the year that manufacturing the lens that matter, I always found that the lens in Exakta mount is a little bit warm and yellowish in color than my Rollei Schneider lens. I also found the Rollei Schneider lens is a little bit sharper.

Normally, I use both lens with Tripod but I do mount the Exakta lens on a Contax 645.

  7. In the photokina, Leica will announce R9 with black and chrome model.

A new R lens 90mm F2 APO ASPH. Is there anyone got any information

about R9. I know that the chrome model will be a special light camera

    than the black one.

  8. I do not have a chance to do detail testing but the initial feeling that it is better than the 45mm in terms of distortion. The zoom is quite sharp and the color is typical Carl Zeiss. I will use it to replace most of the wide angles for my 645 outfit. I will not compare it to 35mm as the angle of view is quite different. I would say that the 35mm is a good compliment to the zoom.
  9. The autofocus speed is sort of OK. The speed is comparable to the 45mm F2.8 if not faster and smoothier. Look like that COntax had improved the USM motor. I just got back my slide this afternoon. The images are quite sharp even though I cannot tell the color reproduction as we have an overcast wheather yesterday. The distortion is considered less than that of 45mm F2.8.I am quite happy to take this lens as my "standard lenses" instead of the 80mm and 45mm.
  10. Yes, it takes 95mm filter. The lens is much bigger than the 35mm in size but the weight is OK when you compare to the German MF zooms. It is about the weight of a Nikon 28-70 F2.8 AF-S Zoom. Can I post some photo here? If yes, then I may do some scans and post the look of the lens together with some photo taken.
