Same question here. Anybody?
-
I was also looking around for a used 40D. I found that the prices were too close to a new one.
Best option right now is to buy new with 28-135mm IS kit and then sell the lens which the going price is $350.00
I bought with the 28-135mm but now decided to keep the kit lens as a great walk around lens.

Take a look at the 70-200mm F4L Non IS ... Best bank for the buck in this price range.

An idea is born ... Canon will include a feature where the Camera will open Adobe files and you can display via video out to TV in your hotel room.

Sorry not a question but thought I would share this tip.
I do not always travel with the Manual for new camera and may need to make
reference to the manual. If there is access to a PC I will be able to view my
manual as I keep a copy of the Adobe manual on my CF card.

This was shot from the back of a pick-up on a bumpy road in the Dominican Republic. I could hardly remain in my seat with hands on camera and things were flying everywhere.
1/500sec IS F8. The truck was in moton as you can see from the motor cycle tyres.

Thanks,
On second thought I am beginning to have second thoughts as looks like a Flea Bay scam.
I used the BIN for the same seller for a 70-200 L 2.8 IS but I am now suspicious that it is not real.
Got an immidiate eamil asking for Western Union..

Both less than 1 year old

I Have to make a quick decision.
Either a EOS 1D Mark II N or a 5D around the same price.
Which way to go.
Thanks

Have a look at the rebate form. It states send a SINGLE SALES RECEIPT.

These pictures were taken with my 400D and 70-200MM F/4 L IS ISO800
430EX Flash.

For around the same price as the Canon 25mm, I bought the Kenko 12/20/36 stack. Gives you much more options and build quality is good.
This three set has all the contacts for AF.

Hope others will find this information helpful.
On a tight budget for a wider angle lens, I did some expermenting.
Bought a quality Olympus add on Wide Angle lens ( WCON-08)on Ebay for $10.00
and a step-down ring 58-55 and fitted to the Kit 18-55 lens.

Tried the battery removal. No changes.
In answer to Kolby's ? .. The Camera has not beeped from new.

Just noticed that on my new XTi the camera does not beep when the exposure is
locked. I have checked the menu and the beep function is on.
Camera workes perfectly otherwise. Question is, do I send it to Canon to be
repaired and risk something else going wrong after being opened by a repair
person. The beep function is not all that important.
Thanks

As I said this is a great Forum... Fantastic information.
Putting all the information gathered here, I have narrowed my decision to 70-200 F/4 L IS
I forgot to mention in my original post that the plan was to sell the 70-300 I already bought and replace it with the L series.
sacrificing the 2.8 for the f4 will leave me with some cash towards a prime lens.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

I am migrating from my Olympus E-20N to Canon and have so far bought the 400D
with kit lens and a 580EX. I also bought a 70-300 USM III f:4-5.6.
I have been giving this some thought and I have decided to slow down on buying
a bunch of different lower end of the scale lens.
I plan is to buy one great lens this year and hopefully can restrain myself
from buying another. My interest are mainly landscape and people photography.
Maybe I will indulge in some sports photos.
With this in mind and shooting for the best bang for the buck, I would
appreciate any recommendations.
I am thinking along the line of a EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM. The weight would not
be an issue after lugging around the old faithful Olympus E-20N with the TCON
300S and a TCON 14B attached.
Any thoughts of what might be an alternative for best bang for the buck
considering my use and budget.
Thanks .... This is a fantastic Forum

I assume you meant half the price of the 580EX
-
Which should I go for. I can buy either at the same price.
430EX or Sigma EF 500 Super DG
-
The seller sent a very quick response allowing me to back out of the deal.
No transaction completed but I certainly would not hesitate to buy from them in the future. Now we will never know if the flash was of any use after all. Guess I am better off just shooting for the 430EX and be done with it.

I sent the seller an Email voicing my concerns. I will post if I receive a reply.

My decision to purchase was partly based on the sellers feedback and reputation. I certainly hope that this is not a useless piece of junk.
