1. Wonder what happened to my paragraph spacing? I thought the internet got smarter while I was gone?

Note: The moderator added the spacing to the above for you. It is one of the bugs that have to be worked out with the new format. In the meantime to do it yourself add < BR>< BR> after every line where you want a line space. Do not leave a space between the < and the BR> as shown. That had to be done so it would show up.

 2. Hi Everyone -

Yes, I'm giving away some stuff. Please read all the way to the end and then reply.

A co-worker was cleaning out her house and brought me a camera and three lenses. They belonged to her dad and have been in the case for many years. She said I could do with them as I please. It would please me if one of you took them. It's a Canon FT QL and three Canon lenses (35mm, 50mm, and 135mm). The shutter isn't in good shape but the lenses all look good and have responsive diaphragms. They're all ready to take pictures.

Some years ago I did quite a few of these giveaways. I always asked that recipients be willing to offer something here in exchange; in other words, if you get something free, be prepared to offer something free. Obviously I can't enforce this, but in a perfect world that's how it would work. I recall a few occasions where that didn't happen. Frankly I got peeved and quit coming here for a couple of years. Well I'm done pouting and I'm ready to play again ;-)

If you want the camera and lenses send an email to skygzr31416 "at" gmail.com. The second reply gets the goodies. I'll ship them free anywhere in the US.

Be prepared to offer something here. A camera and three lenses is pretty good so you should offer something pretty good. What if you don't? What if you just take the loot and put it on top of Smaug's pile of gold or lock it in Scrooge McDuck's vault and gloat about the idiot that gave them to you? Will I come after you? Probably not. Will the photo.net posse arrive at your castle with torches and pitchforks? Unlikely. Will the Gods of Camera Karma make notes in their notebooks? No, because they have really long memories and don't need notebooks. They will find you.

There it is! Enjoy!

 3.
My Russian isn't so good but I'm pretty sure this is a Zorki 4. It worked the last time I used it, so have at it!

The rules.
I’m posting a couple of giveaways tonight so read this carefully.

To claim this item, send an email to skygzr31416 (at) gmail.com. 4.
Next is a pair of 35mm cameras, a Petri 7 and a Petri Color. They both worked last time I used them. I recall that the 7 had a particularly good lens and strong shutter.

The rules.
I’m posting a couple of giveaways tonight so read this carefully.

To claim this item, send an email to skygzr31416 (at) gmail.com. 5.
I’m cleaning the closet again and I thought it was time for another giveaway*.

First up is an honest to goodness Rolleiflex. It’s a total beater and a few parts are missing (flash sync I think) but the shutter fires and it takes pictures. Not worth selling but free to a good home.

The rules.
I’m posting a couple of giveaways tonight so read this carefully.

To claim this item, send an email to skygzr31416 (at) gmail.com. I had a dream last night that if I was generous with strangers, the Braves would start hitting with runners in scoring position. We’ll see.

00boaV-541261584.jpg.a6037e0721a051dd9347286160af6c62.jpg

 6.
Hi Charlotte -

Forgive me if I come across as rude, but your question is a funny one. Its got a good bit of tech speak in it (indicating that you have some prior knowledge of the subject), but the two things you're asking to compare aren't even the same thing. It's like I went to a guitar player's forum and asked, with no preamble, "Which is better a left-handed Les Paul copy with a Bigsby or a Yamaha Pacifica?"

I'd suggest a somewhat more thoughtful question in the future, or maybe let us know your intended use or what "better" means. I have to admit I spent more time puzzling over your question than intending to answer it.

I also notice that you just joined photo.net just yesterday.

Regardless, welcome, and all the best, and good luck with your project.

 7.
Hi Everyone -

Here's a working Olympus OM2n with a really interesting Sigma 28mm lens. The lens has filters built into it....you rotate the ring and different colors get themselves into the light path. Filtermatic, they call it. Kewl.

Yeah, I know I could sell it on eBay, but I don't feel like it. There...I said it....eBay!

This is a Pretty Good Gear Giveaway, and I'd like the lucky winner to give away Something Pretty Good, as well. Not a busted no-name lens cap, but Something Pretty Good. Do it sooner rather than later. No fair hoarding.

The FOURTH person to write to me at skygzr31416 (at) gmail.com gets the goods. One entry per person, USA only. Posting here is of no consequence, its the email that gets the stuff.

K'plah!

8.
Hi, GAS fans -

I've got a Mamiya grip that needs a good home. See the pic....looks lonesome, no? I'm pretty sure it fits both the C series TLRs and the RB. I know they both mate with the two little pins near the 1/4" bolt. Anyway I was going to sell it on eBay but I decided to give it to one of you knuckleheads ;-)

The rules: the THIRD person to email me at skygzr31416 (at) gmail.com takes the prize. Only one email per person. I'll ship it free anywhere in the US. Sorry, international friends.

AND, I'd like for you to give away something, too. I can't make you do it but it sure would be nice. Start a new thread and post something good.

 9.
The Myrtle Beach area has long been a sacred repository of kitsch and tackiness. Unfortunately its been getting all cleaned up and the world will be a little less interesting.

Did you make it to South of the Border? This picture was one of the few my Seagull TLR took before it died.

00bF7V-514179784.jpg.eb61fcbb23cffd352a47ad001626ba28.jpg

 10.
"Now we need to see some pictures with the 250mm!"

I owned two of these over the years and neither one was a very good lens. Just not very sharp. This is a common complaint, unfortunately.

I also had two of the 55mm....one was terrific , the other, not so much. I'm pretty sure the second one was the aberration. All around a great system, though.

 11.
Yup, that's a Super Ikonta 532/16, free for the taking. I think she's a 1937. Just read all the yada yada before you claim it.

The good: clean glass, and the shutter mostly runs although it could probably benefit from a shot of Ronsonol. The interlocks and film advance mechanism are OK as far as I know. I've patched the bellows with Liquid Tape and they appear to be light-tight (if not pretty).

The bad: The previous owner (not me, I promise!) disassembled the lens so now the RF needs to be readjusted. Even though this should be fairly simple, the older I get the more reluctant I am to dig into these things. I'm realizing I need to say "no" to a project now and them. My loss (or temporary insanity) is your gain.

The terms: This is a pretty good free camera, so I'd like you to give away something pretty good, too. I'll let you decide what that should be. Start a new thread just like this one. I'd prefer that whoever gets it be a good tinkerer and not just responding to a free shiny object. I'd also prefer that you intend to fix it and use it, not harvest it for parts, or (curse you in advance), sell it on eBay. You must live in the US or Canada. If you've received any of my previous giveaways, do the right thing and give someone else a chance. Please note that I can't really enforce any of these terms but I'm hoping you'll abide by them. How's that for letting go?

First dude (or dudette) to write me at bourquek at ashleyhall dot org (replace the "at" and the "dot" with the real stuff) gets it. Good luck!

00ZolY-430061584.jpg.f43a85b101824cedb8460162dd6ab984.jpg

 12.
I've always loved this camera. Ugly and beautiful at the same time. There's the old saying that an elephant is a mouse designed by a government committee. Looks like a similar influence here.

I seem to recall that in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" one of the wedding photographers is using a Mamiya Press. A close cousin but not as beautifully ugly.
