  1. The epicentre of the waves being almost precisely at the lower right thirds nodal point makes this a perfect composition, something I would be happy to use as an example in lectures!

     

    Yet, the photograph strikes me more because of it's sheer subtle impact, something no "rules" can define. The strong horizontal crop makes this even more powerful as an image.

  2. The lone boatman stands out against the distant city skyline, as a

    study of contrasts at many levels: Primitive and modern, near and

    far, alone against the city crowds, and of course, the land and the

    sea!

     

    The skyline is of Mumbai, India. The image was taken just after

    sunset, on a smoggy summer evening.

    The bird perched on the branch creates an illusion of loading one arm

    of a see-saw, balancing the branches and leaves on the other arm -

    oddly enough, lending a tenuous balance to the frame.
