  1. I recently purchased a Fuji 67GWII camera.I have noticed that on the

rare occasions when using Fuji's colour neg. film that the film

advance/rewind lever stops after the 10th exposure (in 120 mode,of

course)making it difficult to tightly rewind the roll, resulting in

light leaks and for some unknown reason 2 of the 10 frames are lost.I

have experienced this only with Fuji emulsion;no problem at all with

    Kodak colour negative.

Perhaps,I am missing an important detail concerning Fuji's

colour film!Any elucidation to this seemingly nubulous but highly

frustrating problem would be most appreciated.

  2. I have heard mainly good things regarding the Fuji rangefinders optics

which has compelled me to want to own one! However,I am having

headaches trying to decide which format to purchase. It would be used

mainly for portraits and fashion.Should I go for the 6X7 version which

is considered the normal size for this type of work,or would the

larger format of the 6X9 (not the wide angle version) be better ie.a

larger negative.Additionally,is there a marked difference in the way

    the two handles?

  3. I wish to thank everyone that responded to my recent question regarding wooden tripods, especially the information about the Calumet online sale re.Berlebach tripods;I bought the 7023 model at $70 a significant saving over the recom. retail price. This leads me to a next, related, question:which is the most suitable ball & socket head for this tripod, bearing in mind that I will mounting a hassy or a light weight Tachiria (the right spelling escapes me at present!) 5x4 camera.
  4. I am seriously contemplating purchasing a wooden tripod to use with my hassy and a 5x4 field camera. The problem is that there don't appear to be a wealth of information available.I would really appreciate any remarks from user about the pros and cons. For example there seems to be a marked difference in the price of a Ries and a Berlebach; Is there an obvious reason which I am oblivious to?
  5. Peter,I share your frustration too. Some 4 weeks ago I also requested a catalogue from Arca-Swiss and still nothing has materialised.I should also add that I reside in Switzerland!I don't know what the problem is but I have given up any hope of getting it in this millenium!
  6. I purchased the Lee filter bellows shade some six months ago to use on my 5x4.If I recall, they make two kinds:a standard(without the filter slot) and a version that can be hold 2 of their filters at a time. The bellows itself is made out of a very durable material(though not leather I suspect)and can be shaped into many different configurations, which is why it is used a lot by 5x4 practitioners. It is also very light weight, supported by a wide range of filters and adaptors, and is correctly priced (in my opinion,of course)a lot cheaper than their competition. So,how can ya go wrong?
  7. My Hasselblad jammed on me recently while on a shoot (as luck would have it I had a second body to hand).I am seriously considering purchasing a Hassy Unjammer Key.Are their any subscribers with experience of using this tool? I need to know if the key is easy and practical to use.Does it come with instructions?
  8. I am considering purchasing a 240mm f9 Doctor Germinar

lens (I am told the optical quality is as good as the Rodenstock equivalent

at half the cost)I would appreciate any comments from readers familiar with this optic.

Are lenshoods a good idea to use with large-format lenses...I never seem to hear or see

large format photographers using them! And if so,what are good brands to look out for?

How practical are Groundglass Protectors;I carry my 5x4 in a billingham, would it still make good sense to

invest in one or are they just a gadget for me to part with my money.

I recently dropped my 210mm Schneider during a shoot. The front element has a deep mark.I am told that because it is

on the front element I should not worry, and because Schneider lenses are multi coated. Is this true? I have used the lens in question since without any difference

    in image quality.
