  1. <p>Pentax issued a firmware update for the K-01 today.<br>

    http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/digital/k-01_s.html<br>

Changes to V1.01<br />Improved auto focus performance. <br />Improved stability of recording for some SDHC/SDXC memory card.<br />Improved stability for general performance<br>

I hope it really makes a difference for K-01 owners. Maybe Henry's would be nice enough to update the FW on the camera you tried in store for you to see for yourself if it really helps?</p>

    <p>Best Wishes</p>

  2. <p>Not exactly germane to the Sony/Minolta mount but since you asked, and just for the fun of it, these lenses come to mind.</p>

<p>Although out of circulation for some time, one comparable lens would be the highly regarded SMC Pentax A*135 f1.8 manual focus lens manufactured ~ 1984-1989. http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-A-Star-135mm-F1.8-Lens.html Tough to find and super overpriced on the used market. ~ 200mm on APS-C</p>

<p>Using APS-C 1.5X crop factor, the SMC FA 77mm f1.8 Limited series is auto focus (reaches 115mm, short of 135 of course, but getting in the ballpark) and also highly regarded.</p>

<p>SMC A*, F*, FA* 85mm f1.4 lenses also quite good and reach an nearly comparable FL on APS-C. Too bad they are all no longer manufactured, but still notable.</p>

    <p>Minolta 85mm - highly regarded, popphoto thought so as well: <a href="http://www.popphoto.com/Reviews/Lenses/Lens-Test-Minolta-85mm-f-1.4G-D-AF">Lens Test: Minolta 85mm f/1.4G (D) AF | Photography - PopPhoto.com ...</a></p>

  3. Thanks for the info. Yes, I've also read that the Tamron Sp line are very good.

The other thing I'm concerned about is the K10d reportedly has metering problems with manual lenses... not sure if it includes A lenses or is for screw mount manuals. Don't know how much more work it would entail using a manual lens... If I've heard right the older ist D series cameras can meter fine with manual lenses. Am I anywhere on track with this?

    Thanks!

  4. I'm considering buying this lens, which has been in storage 8 years and is

aparantly in new condition. Its been used on a Nikon body with the Tamron

adaptal system,of which I've never used, and comes with a 1.4x converter.

My question is on the quality of this lens - I'm not finding anything in

searching the web, and to the availabilty and ease of use with the adaptal

system of tamron... apparantly need two adaptals to use this lens.

I would use it on the K10d body which I'll be probably getting next week.

the seller is asking $550.00, of which I have no idea to its true worth.

your expert help is indeed appreciated!

    thanks,

    Nic
