All equipment (except T3 ext. tube) is in excellent working condition...with VERY minor cosmetic markings. Great system for someone starting out in Medium Format or to use as a back-up system. Best thing about Kowa's are that they have leaf shutter lenses!

  2. The Pentax 645 and 645N use a "shock-reducing mirror braking" system. Neither cameras have mirror lock-up. However, Pentax touts that it's braking system eliminates the need for mirror lock-up. The way the braking system works is through a motorized flywheel that automatically slows down the mirror as it approaches its full-open position. This creates a "soft and gentle" opening of the mirror and prevents any unwanted vibration once the mirror is completely open.

Contrasts this system with every other camera manufacturer which typically use a spring action mirror which "slaps" open and creates vibrations which can affect your exposure. Thus, mirror lock-up is necessary for exposures over 1/30th of a second.

  3. I wanted to clarify a comment earlier about the Super 66. It DOES have mirror lock up! You can achieve mirror lock-up by engaging the self timer. The mirror locks up immediately upon pressing the shutter release button...after the self timer expires (about 8 seconds) the shutter fires and you have a completely vibration free exposure.
  4. I am seriously thinking of selling my Kowa equipment which includes a Super 66 body, 2 12/24 backs, WL finder, 90 degree prism, Ext. Tubes T1, T2, T3 (T3 is broken), Hand grip, 55mm lens (black), 85mm lens (black) and 150mm lens (black). Contact me at bebopkaw@aol.com
