  1. Hey All,

I am trying to find a used Film Advance Lever (The big one on the camera). I lost

the other one in the desert and now that I am back safe and sound I need to

replace it. Any ideas? I tried e-bay with no luck. Thanks in advance for your

    suggestions.

  2. I really love the joy of working in a darkroom. I miss the smells and the obsolute control over the process of B&W. Ansel Adams I am not but damned if I don't wish. B&W developing is easy and a great deal of fun. I have enjoyed it for years. The cool thing is it doesn't take much equipment to begin with. Go get a Film Spool and a tank and have some fun. More importantly, let us know how you like it.
  3. Perhaps I am a bit jaded in my thinking but... What are you using it for? If you had to pay $10K or more for a back would that bring you a return on your investment either monetarily or emotionally. If the answer is yes, buy the back and get on with it. If no then shoot film and love the Blad for what it does best. I am sure that the vast majority of us in this forum would never say the investment in the 500 would be a waste. I just bought my first 500 CW and LOVE IT. I have only shot film through it and will resist a digital back until my last breath. I shoot nothing but digital at work (photojournalist) and love the feel, smell and control of film but if I thought I could use the Blad with a digital back and make money with it I would drop the 20K in a minute and never look back. Good luck on a tough decision. Mark
  4. Thank you all so much for relieving my stress over my new Blad. I am so glad that it is not my Blad but something that I can fix over here. Can anyone give me an address where I can get 4 replacement light seals? How much do they cost?

    Thanks again all!!!

    Mark

  5. Hey all,

I got the Blad and fianlly shot a few rolls with it here on Deployment. The

results can be found on my single shot page here on photo.net. I don't

understand what is wrong with the Blad. Is it me, the camera, the processing? I

just don't know. Can some of you experienced Blad owners take a look and offer

some help please. If it is the camera can anyone suggest an authorized repair

shop in Germany hopefully near Heidelberg as my wife and I will be taking our

R&R Leave in Germany. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Michael,

I got the viewfinder. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I will be writting you a longer

personal letter but thought I would publicy thank you for your kindness.

Hope thsi finds you all well.

Keeping my head down on deployment,

  6. Hey folks,

I recently experienced a realization of a life-long dream. I bought my first

Hassie!!! I have been a working photojournalist for the past 15+ years and

have never been in a position to afford a Hassie due to trying to keep up with

the latest advancements in camera technology. Now that dream is realized.

    WOOOHOOOO!

I have some newbie, Hassie owner questions. I am currently deployed overseas

with the US Army and have limited access to books and the internet. So I need

    to ask these questions here.

    I bought a 503CX with a 80mm T* type lens, and a 150mm f4 C type lens. I

bought one of the old style backs, thinking it would fit. It doesn't. Is there

something I need to know about buying backs or is this a specific incident?

Will a Kiev 45-degree viewfinder work on this body? This is a pretty rough

climate (imagine ;-)) is there anything other than the normal maintenance and

care that I need to know about Hassie's? Any info would be GREATLY

appreciated. I plan on working with this wonderful camera for a few hundred

years. For work I need digital but this old soldier loves the feel of a

negative and the magic of the darkroom too much to give that all up.

    Thanks for your help!
