1.
Dear all:
I have just picked up a used M8 that I want to primarily use for B&W work; it has a high shutter count of 28,000 and is being sent to Leica for service; otherwise seems to work well; my interest is mainly street photography and some casual portraiture.
I have an older M6 which I still use occasionally; 2 lenses that I have, include the 50 summilux pre asph and previous version of 28/2.8
Would you be kind enough to give me some advise as to what would be couple of good choices given the crop factor for the M8 sensor. Should I look to get a 35mm lens which would essentially be a normal lens for this body? also, which filters should I look to acquire for B&W work.
Thanks in advance for your help and input.
Best regards.

  2.
Could somebody please give me their thoughts / insights / experience of using M mount lenses (via adaptor) on Sony Nex 6 or 7 OR Fuji XE1 / XE2.
I have a couple of M lenses from my Leica film days using M4 and M6 bodies, which have been sold long ago; the 2 lenses I am left with are 50 summilux (pre-asph) and 35 summicron (also pre-asph).
I am planning on buying one of the above mentioned cameras for general purposes.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.

  3.
I have just received a new X100; and overall everything seems to work ok. It has the new firmware 1.1 installed already. One problem I am having is that the command dial does not display the various Flash options when pressed.
Would anybody be kind enough to tell me if there is a simple fix to this issue.
Thank you kindly for your help.

  4.
Hi everybody; I am looking for a cheaper alternative to 35 summicron or summilux; I am thinking about getting the Zeiss 35/2.8! could anybody kindly enlighten me about this lens in regards to quality, flare issues, handling etc. Thanks in advance for all the responses.

  5.
Greetings to all. I have been a Leica M film shooter for many years and very recently bought a used M8.2, I have a couple of questions to people more experienced in its use.
1. I am using an older uncoded 35/1.4 lens primarily. Is it best to leave the lens selection menu off?
2. in the color management menu, which one among the 3 is most appropriate?
I thank you ahead of time for your help.

  6. Hi Andrew;

    Its a superb lens; one of the best Leica made!

    Unfortunately, it did not get utilized much and I could not get used to the separate finder! Hopefully, somebody else can make better use of it.

  7. I have the 90/4 macro elmar with the macro adaptor. I also have the 90AA, which is heavy and bulky. For me the 90/4 lens is a great travel companion; light weight and collapsible; incredibly sharp even at its widest aperture, which has practically replaced my 90AA as the regular use 90mm lens. The macro adaptor works well; gives you a ratio of 1:3 and closest focus distance of 50cm; its pricey though for what it can offer. Hope this helps. Regards.
  8. Hi and thanks in advance for your comments.

    I am interested in seeking opinions on the new 90/4 macro elmar lens.

    How has your experience with this lens been in terms of handling due

    to its light weight? (with and without the macro adaptor). Have fellow

    members found this lens to be a useful part of a travel outfit. Thanks

    again for your suggestions.

  9. I have both an M7, older finder (nr# 285xxxx) and a much more recent MP. The M7's patch does white out, time to time, depending upon the direction of the light. However, it has never been a major or a significant issue for me, although annoying at times. I actually use my M7 a lot more than I use the MP, and simply love the aperture priority mode. Besides, DAG can do a finder upgrade for you (for $190, I think)if you prefer. I suppose, it essentially comes down to how much premium your newer MP is worth over the older M7 and there is a fair bit of subjectivity there. Thanks.
  10. Could any one please point me OR provide alink to a review article on

    CV 12/5.6 lens, either here on PN or elsewhere. Any comments on your

    personal use with a Leica M body would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    in advance.

  11. This has probably been asked a lot before and if somebody wants to

    direct me to an appropriate link, I would truly appreciate.

    I want to get opinion / advice about a carbon fiber tripod,

    preferably with head, primarily for travelling to mount Leica M or

    Xpan body; price is not a consideration.

    Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.

  12. Hi;

    I am relatively new to digital photography and would like to learn

    from more seasoned people here. My question is;

    There are some digital models e.g Sony DSC V3, which offer a black &

    white and sepia pictures; what does this actually mean? is it like

    taking a B&W picture when you use a film with a convetional camera?

    I would like to know this since I do quite a bit B&W photography with

    a regular 35mm camera.

    Thanks in advance.
