Sorry for the mistake on the Critique Forum. It is the North Fork near New Market Va. The larger view gives more detail.

I think this section of the river has been altered because there is a section of an old canal and locks on the south bank. They use to use barges to transport goods from the headwaters down to the bay.

Actually I was standing on a foot bridge that runs under the main bridge that is used for traffic on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I might as well been standing on the shore because I only walked out a couple of feet. It was so hot (99 degrees) and the middle of the day. Light was terrible and the haze was thick. I am surprised that the mountain in the distance is visible. You are right about using a filter. Even though it is not a great photo,I posted it because I thought it looked so peaceful. Thanks again for your interest.

Does anyone know what the triangle shape is to the right of the balloon? We were on the Canadian side and never went over to the US to figure it out.

I know it looks like the Moon but it is actually a hot air balloon.

I think the focus is OK. It was taken without a tripod but the lens was a VR. Nighttime shots are so tricky for me. Thanks for your comment

The photo was taken through glass patio doors. The deer was unable to
see inside because of the angle of the sun on the glass. The
distance to the wild deer was about four feet.
