It's a very old scan ( 4 years old) and I'm going to rescan the negative instead of the picture and see how it comes out. Will try to balance the colors better. Unfortunately this is the only picture where they both looked into the camera.

The composition is interesting in the entire frame. I really like the little patch of grass and the sun spotlight on it. The mountains do seem alittle bland in comparison with the stark dunes. Maybe black and white would make the mountains more interesting?

Cropping out the mountains could also be a solution, but they also bring context and location to the dunes which is nice.
