  1. I liked it; enjoyed being there. Some minor PS touches: Darken the basement completely. No need to struggle to see what's in there which would only be a distraction anyway. As mentioned, get rid of the parts in the LH lower corner. And if you can extend the bottom and complete the tire. Basic photoshop, could be done on a digital copy of this photo.

  2. Pavel, It's certainly a dramatic picture, a good recording of a scene, but from an artistic stand point the graphic distracts from the image, giving rise to what may be a controversial idea. I realize that it is part of the scene ,but it becomes a testimonial instead of art.
  3. " Did you explicitly ask Nikon Service what the problem is and how they propose to remedy it (any replacement parts involved)? That's some pricey oil!" No communication other then the estimate provided when trying to get the paperwork to send it in. I would have jumped if it were about $300, but $600 sight unseen?

Of course I'm just coming off an auto incident where a sensor failed while telling me I had serious engine problems which by the way I didn't have. So the sensor cost $500. and it's only purpose was to give me a false reading about a perfectly functioning engine. I guess I'm a bit hyper touchy about repair bills. Perhaps "a drop of oil" was a bit understated:)

  4. I have read several past posts of this problem and would like some input since Nikon repair estimated a $600

repair bill. The zoom ring is a little stiff; not too stiff that I cannot comfortably adjust it manually, l but

the problem is that in my underwater housing the gear that turns it cannot turn the ring in the center of its

range. It's always been a bit tight but recently a bit more so. It is used lightly, very lightly, and has never

been dropped on flooded or even damp from the UW housing. (I know that sounds like the check is in the mail.)

I'm thinking that's a lot for a drop of oil. I have heard/ read about Nikon's 5 year warranty on different posts,

but when I checked mine it was only one year. So, what are your thoughts on my following options?

    1. Live happily ever after with a stiffish zoom ring and give up the zoom function settings underwater.

    2. Pay the buggers and get it smoothed out.

    3. Find an alternative repair facility and see what they say. If there is no warranty anyway, what's to lose. If

so, is there a recommendation for a shop in the northeast?

    4. Something I never thought of.

Thanking the brain trust in advance for its usual sterling advice.

  5. My photo printer is not printing photos from PC CS5 or documents from Word 7; But it does do nozzle checks and

cleaning and provide information on how much ink is in each vial.

    Here's what I know:

    I"m using Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, service pack 1; My computer is a Dell XPS desktop with an I7 processor;

I clear the printing queue before trying again. Once, when I shut the computer down a Word document printed. I

have reloaded the latest drivers from Epson, there is ink in all the vials; I have tried the trouble shooting

guides to no avail. It worked fine a few weeks ago.

My 2200 seems to connect selectivity with the computer but nor in producing documents and photos; The ports to

connect the work seem to work when doing maintenance but not production.

Any ideas? Anyone travel down the same road?

Thanks for any efforts on your parts.

  6. I have gleaned the top 30 or so images from my mother's family albums and wish to make DVDs to mail to family

here in the US and abroad.I know some of the family members will take the media to Kmart if they want pics. I'm

not sure how they will handle it in Europe. I have saved all the images in JPEG format so they will be easy to

handle with most software. Is it best to put these images on a DVD? Best on CD? or maybe on a thumb drive? I'm

not planning to email them as it might be too much for some computers. Please advise if you have any suggestions,

and thank you in advance for any response. Bernie
