  1. Good image nice detail, but.. there are some areas of the background that still need to be adjusted and cleaned, both sides of the branch above the bird and under the rump and breast of the bird are areas that stand out the most.

Nice image, however the sun did you no favours here as the lighting seems harsh and is casting  shadows on the bird.  Background could be improved and the use of some noise reduction software would help.  Topaz De-noise works well and you can get a free fully functional 30 day download

Nice capture Bill, you might try cropping through the middle of the branch he is sitting on, as it seems to be attracting just as much eye time as the Pine Sisken.  If you use PS, may I suggest downloading the full version of Topaz Denoise, its fully functional for 30 days and works great on backgrounds without damaging the subject.

Interesting bird, but a couple of things jump out at me when I view the larger image, one it seems a tad soft, second the white throat detil is missing, a minor adjustment using PS selective color (blacks) might pull some detail back, that can also be achieve in Camera RAW if you shot RAW.  if not you can open the .jpeg file in CS4/5 using "open as" select the appropriate .jpeg and then select file type as RAW.

As expected, well done Ray, great feather detail and color, Just back visiting or is this from your files?  My Ecuador trip is off, Sharon is ill and the damn doctors can't figure it out!

  2. As with all wildlife images, timing plays a great factor and being able to capture the moment with accuracy and sharp detail is the only contribution the photographer has control over. Overall a stunning image! Well done!
