<p>Okay . . . Now I remember why I hate PC cords . . . <br>
For future reference...<br>
Using a Canon G11, Wynn Safe Sync, a good PC Cord, Canon 580EX2 set in Manual mode.<br>
I was able to get full sync at speeds up to 1/2000th of a second when set to 1/4 power. Verified by histogram.<br>
When switched to 1/2 power, I was still able to sync at 1/2000th but the shutter speed becomes slightly faster than the flash duration. I could distinguish a very slight exposure difference between 1/1500th shutter and 1/2000th shutter.<br>
When switched to 1/1 power - Still syncing - but more pronounced exposure difference.</p>

<p>I purchased a new G11 with the intentions of utilizing a Wynn Safe Sync to fire manual (non-ettl) strobes. According to several articles I have read, the G9 and G10 have no problems using either a hotshoe adaptor or a pocket wizard to fire external devices.<br>
My G11 seems to totally disable the hotshoe whenever a non-TTL device is attached. Phone calls with both Canon and PW reps say that this configuration should work just fine. Their advice was to either :<br>
A. Exchange a possibly defective camera for a new one and see if that corrects the issue or . . .<br>
B. Try to find other users who own both a G11 and non-TTL triggers and see if they are experiencing the same issue.<br>
Could someone with the necessary equipment test this for me and let me know your results? You can either post here or email me directly.</p>
<p>Thanks - </p>

<p>P.S. Of course the my Canon professional services rep was unfamiliar with the G11 and the G11 support group was not familiar with studio strobe setup. Figures....</p>

Well down here in Alabama we have the "Bubba Method" for handling photographers like that? Do you know anyone named Bubba?
Seriously, sending him a letter titled "Intent to File Suit" may be a very effective way of hadling something like this. That usually lights a fire under peoples butt.

Nice thing about square formats is that you can design a 12x12 and then resize to 10x10 or 8x8 for budget reasons. You can also easily resize to 5x5 parent sized albums... or even 3x3 pocket albums..

Passwords definately make a barrier for sales... Thats why I make the password REALLY easy and put the hint right there... "HINT: PASSWORD IS THE GROOMS LAST NAME".
As far as getting permission? There's a model release in my contract. No reapproach necessary.

Exactly right Kari - Only the very best images should be viewable publically. I'd hate to loose business because one of my clients chose an unattractive venue. That's just good marketing.
I DO however provide a password hint. Usually the grooms last name. That way ANYONE who even remotely knows the couple can get in and see the gallery (and purchase photos).

Actually - The best way to know it's a scam is if they somehow want to give you more money than is required. They always want you to forward a balance to some third party.
-
I'd say that the most reputable are B&H and Adorama... I've actually quit shopping around... If anyone has it cheaper than B&H it either a scam or it's not enough price difference to really matter.

Try Exposuremanager.com . Love it!!

Send the prints to the lab at 300dpi... If it is intended to be a 4x6 print that would be 6 inches times 300dpi = 1800 for the long side. 4inches times 300dpi = 1200 for the short side. 1800x1200.

I use a Manfrotto 3051 tripod... It's a monster... You couldn't that that puppy with jack hammer. Failing that, hang your camera bag on the hook beneath the tripod for some extra stability.

I always tell them that I have a new policy of only photographing attractive people. Ask him to send a photograph of himself holding a sign that reads "Amy Cupp". If you can get him to do that see if you can get him to send a photo of his fiance. The next step is to convince him that you want to do a "trash the dress session". See if he would be willing to do that. Then break it to him that their will be some nudity involved so you need to see what he looks like naked. And his fiance. Be sure to post all of the photographs for our enjoyment. :-)

There is a way around the $50 slideshow. There are lots and lots of screen video recorders that work very well... Just crank the recorder up to it's highest res. Hit record. Press play on the slideshow.

Yeah... thats what I meant... WMV is much tougher on bandwidth than pure flash...

I know I'm risking being flamed.. But.. After being a PC user for 20+ years and making the switch to Mac, if I NEVER buy another Windows machine it will be way too soon.
My reasons have very little to do with being better at photo editing or it's suitability for any other given purpose. Honestly, platform really doesn't matter they both perform well. I've just had it with spyware and viruses. At least now I'm not a target. It's been a year and my Mac hasn't slowed down, needed a defrag, or a OS reinstall. I used to have to do that every 6 months.
I must admit, the first thing I did when I got my Mac was to install a Windows XP in a virtual machine. I found a few things that I needed Windows for. But now all I use windows for is watching Netflix movies and logging on to my corporate network.

Be careful...
Proshow alienates your Mac Loving website vistors totally (unless you publish using the bandwidth hungry flash streaming video format).
It also requires PC vistors to install a plugin that may nusers are reluctant to install.
Except for those two issues, Proshow is an excellent product. Much easier to make DVD's from.

Yeah... I leave my car unlocked and the keys in the ignition all the time. Because I know that anyone who wants to steal it will just throw a brick through the window and hotwire it. (assumming they are not running IE and know how to disable Javascript) ;-)

Perfect!!
Keep in mind that the noise will be much more obvious on screen than in print... I think your noise will be nearly unnoticable.

I wouldn't sweat it. But I might ask him for a website link. That would help you with your google rankings.
-
Yes and no... You have to use a audio editing program to merge the two songs into one long one. Garageband will do this wonderfully on a Mac... Or use Audacity (freeware) on any platform... Just do a nice crossfade between the songs.

I've been playing around with some new Photoshop techniques. I like the effect
and plan on giving the couple a choice of having these images with or without
the effects. What do you think? Is it a lttle to "edgy" for wedding work?

If it weren't for one little four letter word in your post, I could recommend dozens of companies that would do exactly what you are asking. The word is "film". Most all of the companies offering that level of service want you to shoot digital.

I'd give up Photoshop before I gave up Lightroom. Sure there are lots of things that Photoshop does that Lightroom does not... But after getting lightroom, I only use photoshop on about 5% of my images. Lightroom touches 95% of my images.
