1. Yep, that's the one. You're right, it's not really that great. Was definitely much better in my unreliable memory. But it's still the closest thing I've seen to the best of both worlds.
This bag by Tamrac has a similar swingy idea but is remarkably ugly.
I use a Crumpler courier bag with a padded insert. With its "3rd leg strap" it sits pretty comfortably on my back when not in use, and allows me to access my camera without putting the bag down, but it's nowhere near as comfortable as a backpack.
I suppose you just can't have everything- I always wanted a lens that works like my eyes - with a wide view and the ability to zoom in on something while still seeing what's going on around me. But I'm just weird... :)
Good luck with the quest for the ideal bag and let me know when you find it!

  2. I can't remember what the company was called, but I seem to remember somebody here posting something about a German company who made photo backpacks which you could slide around your back and access from the side, without setting them down...

Maybe somebody else has a more accurate memory than I do :)

  3. Hi Jane

I wouldn't ditch it if I were you, I use mine all the time. It stops the bag slipping around on your back - giving it a rucksack-like stability. I find this useful when walking around, but really indispensible when cycling, which is what the "third leg" was designed for. No more pushing back the bag when it wants to shift around under your arm...

    hope this helps

  4. Hi everybody

Since my little Mju (Stylus Epic) died, I haven't been able to take

any more of my famous embarrassing party photographs, which means

that my friends have been able to get away with acting silly without

it being documented for posterity (don't feel like lugging my EOS 5

plus lenses around). This has to stop!

So basically what I'm looking for is a digital replacement... It

would be nice if it had a lens (nearly) as good as the olympus.

Ideally it should be relatively fast (startup and shutter/autofocus

lag), for spontaneous snapshots, and smallish. The flash should be

    relatively acceptable.

I don't really like the digital mjus - nice build, but poor image

quality, small sensors and slow - lag and lens. What I've been

looking at is the Sony P32 (nice video mode, relatively fast), Canon

A300 (always liked canons), or possible the upcoming Sony P41 (4

megapixel, but probably with a sensor to small for the resolution).

Alternatively, there's the canon a80, which has a zoom, and is

pretty cool all round. Decisions, decisions...

So I would greatly appreciate any comments anyone has on the above

cameras or suggestions of other cameras to consider (making my

    decision even harder!!!)

    Thanks in advance

    Brendan
