  1. Hi all,

I have a Canon 30D.I dropped it recently and it took the impact pretty much on

the hotshoe slide. The impact cause the little black plate inside the slide,,,

which seems to serve as a seperator for the contacts,,, to dislodge. It also

bent and does not fit properly and falls out of the slide easily.I can still

use my 580EX w/o the seperator plate,,,but I would like to ask anyone

knowledgeable,,,, are there any consequences to using the speedlight w/o that

    little seperator plate?.

    Thanks,

  2. Hi all,

I searched datbase for an answer to this Q but didnt find it so I hope this is

    not redundant.

Im going to purchase the Eizo CG19.I plan to run a dual monitor system

utilizing a Matrox dual monitor card.Im upgrading the pc also tp HPa1610n.The

pc has an internal Nvidia GeForce 6150LE card. The pc has 7 USB ports but NO DVI

    port.

I am looking for optimal color matching to print so my question is do I need a

DVI port to accomplish optimal results? OR what connectivity do I utilize for

    optimal results?.

    Much thanks,

    Chris

  3. I set Quality in both converters to max and still the same results.I increased the DPI on PS2 to 360 and the file still came out a small 1.32 MB.I decreased the DPI on PS2 to 10 and the file still came out 1.32 MB.LOL.This is all in jpeg.Still am confused about the difference in file sizes.

I use converters to process raw files for HDR images.Adding to the confusion,,, the PS2 converted 3 exposure HDRs come in at 6.6 MB while the Canon converted come in at 5.7 MB.Also strange is the quality of the PS2 converted HDRs isnt as good as the Canon converted HDRs,,and neither is as good as the 3 exp HDRs using the jpeg straight off the card,,,hmmmm.HDR is a funny thing though.Sometimes awesome,,sometimes a nightmare.

I got the PS2 mainly to convert shots using the Singh-Ray Blue n Gold polarizer which it does excel at.But other than that,,I dont see why I paid $160 for the upgrade.

  4. I just upgraded to CS2.I have noticed that when I convert a RAW file using CS2

the file size is much smaller than when I use Canon utilities. For example,,I

converted a RAW file that was 6.66 MB,,,with Canon utilities the converted file

    is 5.76 MB,,with CS2 it is 2.18 MB.

Anyone know why this is?,,does it make any difference?,,or am I doing something

    wrong?.

    Much thanks

  5. Yes Andy,, I know Hitechs are a good value,,,I just ordered 5 HiTech GNDs for the price of 2 Singh Rays :-).One of the reasons Im looking to cut costs on NDs since I got the gamut of HiTech GNDs.Your recommendation is duly noted,,,thx.
  6. I saw another thread about using a ND filter as a GND filter (not an effective

idea) but Im wondering about the reverse.I have a Singh-Ray 3 stop hard GND

and noticed I could fill the frame on my EFS 17-55 with just the tinted

portion with no untinted areas visible.Havent actually practised it yet but

seems like this could be a way to save from buying ND filters.Anyone ever try

this or know any reason why it wouldnt be effective?.
