Thanks alot Mark for a most educating lecture..
I think that with the spending to get the lens it self, I might as well kit myself out for any
conceivable situation.

Thanks for the answers everybody.
Corner Fix did the job.

That wasn't really the issue but in case you want to know, the Zeiss is far superior.

Hello there!
I've got the Zeiss 15/2.8 wich is an absolutely fantastic lens for the M8.
However, in some lighting conditions I get problems in the corners. The lens is not coded so I wonder if I
should give it a try with the same code as for the 16-18-21 WAT.
Anybody sitting with any experience as to how to play this one?
Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Hi again and thanks to all of you.
The tread answers? Very helpful indeed but it seems I have to lock myself up in the think-tank again.
I just love the compact design of it but off course, I realise it has its weaker points.
Think, think, think. I think I'll end up with a hole in my head.

Hello boys and girls.
I'm considering to buy a Leitz Summilux 35mm/1.4 for my M8. I've heard some
people speak of this lens as a Coke bottom type lens, but then again is that
relly so? The attractive thing about it is certainly its size. Very compact
indeed and as such, it doesn't protrude into the view finder frame by a
ridiculous amount as is the case with the newer aspherical ones. Obviously,
being non-aspherical, it edge definition will suffer a bit but with the crop
factor on the M8 I wonder if that really matters.
If anyone have any sort of experience with this lens and its performance I
would be most happy to hear of it.
Thanks to you all.
Tore.

Thanks alot. You just filled my boots with the confidence I need. Money is definately an object. But then again, so is my hobby which occasionally bring some money into the bank account.

Absolutely, so I got myself a 75 Summilux as well.

Hi there.
Just got myself an M8 and wonder a littele what to do in terms of keeping some
of my older lenses or get new ones. For the wider angles I'm OK and my mind is
set.
However, I have an old non-asph Summicron 90mm and wonder if I should keep it
and give it a 6-bit coding vs. getting a 90mm Apo Summicron. There is to be
said that my older 90 is in absolutely mint condition in every respect.
Anybody out there with any experience?
In case, I would be most happy to hear of it.

I've got a Carl Zeiss Biogon T 2,8/25mm ZM and wonder if anybody know if that
would be compatible with the M8 (just got one. I know that the closest frame
will be the 24mm but when I put the lens on, the 28mm frame comes up. Not a
big broblem but if there was a way around it I'd be happy.
I am also considering to buy the Biogon T 2,8/21mm ZM and the C Sonnar T
1,5/50mm ZM so the same question goes for these two.
Also, any way the above lenses could be 6-bit coded for a close match to
something similar from Leica.
If anybody hav any experience at all with the above lenses on Leica M I'd be
most happy to learn from it.
Regards
Tore
M8 and Zeiss 15mm / f2.8
in Leica and Rangefinders

Just to let you all know:
I got myself a new bayonet at around 60 Euro for coding Zeiss lenses. Coded my Zeiss
15/2.8 as the Leica WAT and voila - the thing just got perfect.
Using lens detection + UV/IR all my shots have been right on the money!
Absolutely brilliant!
And for those wondering why I would choose the Zeiss against the CV?
Well, the answer to that is really quite simple. Although the CV 15 is a well built and very
good lens it lacks the speed. I often shoot under very low light conditions so to me its a
matter of being able to bring a shot home or not.
If I wasn't strongly dependent upon that I would most certainly have got myself a CV 15.
And so should anyone else if the speed of the CV cover their needs.
