1.
Hello all,
I recently purchased a minty Leica 28 2.8 Elmarit (3rd version, pre-ASPH) in the "Safari" Edition. Collectably speaking, is this lens worth more than a regular 28 2.8 Elmarit because it is much rarer? Or is it the opposite effect, where one would rather not purchase a "camo green" lens?
I appreciate your input.

  2.
Hello all,
My wife and I are expecting our first child, a baby girl, in June. :)
I want to be able to capture her life on film (well, an SD card). I currently have:
Nikon D300, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Nikkor 105 2.5 AIs (manual focus, almost useless for moving objects because my MF skills are not great), Nikkor 50 1.8, and a Panasonic Lumix LX-5 (pocket camera). For some reason I always dreamed that I would purchase a Nikon 85 1.4 when I have my first child, because it would be a great focal length for "every day" moments. What do you think? Is my current set-up good enough, or do I need to change some things?
Thank you,
3.
Hi all - long time member, maybe second time poster. :)
I've been in the photography "game" for several years now, and purchased a lightly used D300 for $1200 about two years ago. I used it fairly regularly until a little while back where I've seemingly run out of time to take photos... that will soon change, I hope.
That's my background which will hopefully help to solidify my inquiry which is: why are Nikon (and I assume other makers') prices going up? The new 85 1.4 is pushing $1600. The used market for lenses has stabilized. I realize supply and demand is at work, but as technology becomes less expensive to develop/parts become cheaper/etc. shouldn't these high priced goodies come down in price?

  4. Which would you choose if both were about $450? I want to have some reach for

wildlife, but I am not sure how much reach I will need since I have never really

shot wildlife before, so I don't want to invest heavily in equipment for it (not

that I have endless funds to do so anyway). I do have a pretty good tripod and

ballhead for support. I shoot with a D70s.

I understand that the 300 is AF and the 400 is MF, but I don't think I will mind

MF'ing - if it's possible to MF birds. Is it?

    Thanks!
