My film lenses fit my dslr. That was enough

you can always shoot in RAW and modify your images in DPP or Lightroom

You can try easypano.com they have software that allow for quicktime, flash and java exports. IseeMedia also has
a product called Photovista.
Kaidan.com offers a few software options as well as professional grade rotator heads.
Great shot by the way!

lensrentals.com pricing is about half has much.
i.e canon 70-200 2.8is
Camulet $120 for a week
Lenrentals.com $120 for 14days insured
I know you wen not looking for online but rates are much cheaper.
You do need to pay return shipping.

Best Buy has a pretty flexible return policy if you find it cheaper from a reasonable amount. Return it and buy from elsewhere.

Is the a software application that would allow to change the exposure , let's
say 1 stop up for part of the image and one stop down for another.
I have some images of wooded areas where sunlight over exposed some spots where
where it penetrated the canopy and the rest of the image is exposed well. I
would like to just darken some of the image.
Thanks in advance

Thaks for the explination on what Prime is I was mistaken.
Bob I think that you have answered well. I do however have the non IS 70 300 kit lens and think the image Stability would greatly help as most of my wildlife shots are dawn and dusk in fairly low light and sometimes have trouble getting enough light with skittish animals. That being said and that I am willing to spend 14 to 1500 for a lens would I be best suited buying a 70 -200 2.8 and purchasing a longer prime later or a 100-400 4/5.6.
With an extender I could achieve the same focal lengths with the 200 as the 300.
any thoughts

I am fairly new to photography in general and have had an XTI for about 6 months
now and have been using it with the EFS 18-55 and a 70-300 that were part of a
kit that bundled them for little more than what I could find the body for at the
time. Needless to say I am unhappy with the results that I am getting but have
learned quite a bit about shooting and has increased my interest greatly.
I am now ready to buy lenses and my interest lies primarily in landscape and
wildlife.
I have full intentions of buying a full frame camera in a couple of years or
less as my skills progress. However will the results I get from a prime lens
(16-35 f2.8 L) other than focal length difference differ greatly on my xti or
will i see vast improvements immediately (prior to buying a FF body)
In general my question is - Is there a downside to investing in my lenses now
whilst I own an XTI?
Thanks in advance

I am looking to buy a new long lens. I am also fairly new to SLR photography. I
am looking at either of the two lenses below. Besides cost. One being $600 more
than the other! What are the advantages or disadvantages of either.
I am primarily interested in wildlife photos and my 300mm currenly leaves me
just out of range from many of my targets. I am using a XTI body.
Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS
vs.
Tamron 200-500mm F/5-6.3 DI LD IF SP AF
