I agree with Mark, I bought ae1 off ebay, Put a new battery in it, the next day the battery was dead. Returned it and it was fixed and returned to me, no problem since.

My 400 f/4.5 was bought used from canada. It came with a slip on cap, no feed sac type. Its a snug fit, so I assume that it came with the lens.

Peter, attaching the Fd lens is no problem. But you must move the f stop ring off the A (auto) mark first. Have fun .

It is called a Macro Photo Coupler. Mine is FL58mm. Meaning that you have to use a a lens with 58mm dia. I believe that canon also made one for 52mm lens. It also has an adjustment that goes out 13mm of extension. I use mine with a fd bl 50 1.4 lens. The lens has 55mm diz, so a use a step ring to go from 58mm to 55mm. Works great. usually $20 - $30 on ebay.

reading from the canon macro photo coupler instructions. The coupler allows you to mount the lens to the camera in reverse.
1/ coupler + 50mm 1.4 lens = 1.59
2/ coupler + 50mm 1.4 lens + bellows = 4.35
3/ " 35mm lens " = 6.36

I have used the Off-Camera Shoe Cord 2 with the T90 and 300tl with no problems for over a year.

There are people backpacking for days at a time with only 20lbs on their back. Do a google search on "light weight backpacking" and try to figure how to lighten you pack. If you give up some of the weight in you backpack, that might make way for the camera gear. Best of luck, David

EOS 1n is the one that Alan is talking about. Looks like the original one, just a bit larger. Also fits tighter, thus harder to loose. Got mine for $17.99 including shipping from Calmeta.

I believe that this is expensive for a t90. I have bought two in the last two years, both were purchased at approx $300.00. If you want one I would look at the one at KEH.com, it would come with warrenty. KEH consistantly rates equipment lower that most other stores.

Nathan, Before buying a ring flash, you might check out some of the discussions about this subject. It seems that most macro users prefer a single flash mounted on a flash bracket instead of a ring flash. I am far from an expert on this subject, but many including John Shaw, the macro guru, likes the single flash better. good luck with you venture into macro.

Raid and Daniel, both of your lenses "may" be repairable without different parts. I had a 400mm lens that the aperature adjustment ring didn't change the F stop. I had it cla'ed and the repairmen fixed that part also, something inside had slipped off, not broken.
