Diane, I can see your problem. I set sharpening high in camera to see the results on the screen. But I always change it back to no sharpening using the in camera settings, now they are gone. I can see most of them under raw adjustments but I don't see sharpening.
And I will need 1.3 as my D300 will be arriving any day now.
CAn anyone tell me how to reset in camera sharpening back to 'none'?

I hear rumours of a NX v2 at the end of November to coincide with the (reality) release of D300 and D3. BTW thanks Mike for that link

Off, do a a quick dry run in your front room and analyse the results.

Bruce, Thank you for your efforts in bringing this important issue together at photobackpacker - great site BTW

I have been very happy with my Sigma 10-20, and I know many other users that say the same - some Nikon others Canon. It is a great lens and I find it fun. http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1225857965&size=o
I didn't try the Tokina, or the Nikon. When looking for a 18-50 f/2.8 I went for the Sigma and have been most impressed. The Nikon would have cost me 3 times the price but there is no way it is 3 times as good, or even twice as good. I accept it might be slightly better in lab tests - but that means nothing to me as I can't see the difference.

If, everything that has been said about the D300 is true - then the D300. If a month after its release there were some initial problems then the D2X.

1. Can anyone explain why / how Nikon can sell the D3 in the US at $4,999
roughly ?2,500, when the same camera is ?3399 in the UK?
2. What is to stop someone taking a risk on the warranty and buying in the US,
posting home the cardboard (or just binning it).

Same with the D80, early models have a slight problem with long exposures, fixed after a few months - but not big enough to have your D80 'repaired'.

For me the main difference is the fact that NX offers selective adjustments - whereas Lightroom, Aperture etc can only offer global adjustments.
-
I compared both, and many other raw programs. In the end I went for capture NX - as it allows for selective adjustments, rather than global adjustments.
Nikon Capture NX 1.3.0 Update is now available
