  1. <p>Thanks guys for your quick response. Indeed you may think it's silly to get a Rollei at such a price. However, I'm really looking for a junk piece. Don't mind if paint is lost, leatherette comes off, and things look VERY ugly. As long as glass is not broken and scratched, then I'd get it at a very very cheap price and have the little baby restored back to its shape (As my film making buddy wants to do a short documentary about this sort of restoration)<br>

It's very hard to get such a piece of junk in Shanghai and on eBay (shipping too expensive since I'm in Asia) so I'm looking around here.<br>

@Scot Tremblay: I know Autocords are pretty decent machines, however, they're too expensive! It's almost the same price of the more lower end Rolleiflex.<br>

Initially I wanted to get the Rolleicord, however, I wanted a TLR with a handle instead of a knob.<br>

I'll keep looking and if I happen to come across a dirt cheap one, I'll keep you guys updated about the restoration story......but it'd be nice if I can get a nice Yashica too.</p>

  2. <p>Hello, I'm looking around for a cheap rolleiflex (below USD 150) or Yashica (around USD 70 but must be below USD100)<br>

Condition: glasses must be CLEAN, scratch free...<br>

OR...if you happen to have a broken but "parts complete" (no missing things) rolleiflex (as long as glass is scratch free and not broken), and you are willing to sell at very dirt cheap price, let me know. I'm interested to restore one :)</p>

<p>No eBay please. I don't want to buy from eBay. Been looking around for 4 months without much luck :(</p>

    <p>Thank you.</p>

  3. <p>Thanks Chatterjee... :) Your response gave me some more useful insights....thanks to all other guys who answer me :D blow my kisses to all of you :) MUAH!<br>

After hopping around the net all day again with your advice in mind, I think the old PC-Nikkor is my VERY best bet. I'd better not spend the money to get those so-called ARSAT or whatever.<br>

Large format is definitely lovely, since the bellow allows us to shift up and down! I saw great archi pix taken with that...but I bet it's for exterior landscapes, or urban landscapes...? Correct me if I'm wrong...haha....not yet qualified to enter the world of large format....</p>

  4. <p>nah...photoshop is really a monster. i don't really want to spend hours in front of the monitor doing the editting after working outside all day :)<br>

i know even the most pro use photoshop to do part of their jobs, however, i'm still a newbie and too much photoshop is not too good for me.....i worry i might get too addicted to it later.... haha...<br>

just joking however i wish to have my prints as original as possible. ..i'm still waiting for some more answers about the Pentacon 6 mount lens recommendations while I'll keep researching about it too :)</p>

  5. <p>Thanks guys for your response in just a few short hours!<br>

Currently I'm just using a very amateur machine, the D70s, but am considering to move to FULL FRAME shortly :)<br>

So ok, if I'm doing archi shots, Lensbaby isn't my choice (however I'd love to play with one when I have extra money...it really looks cute!)<br>

The Arsat adapter looks cute, for less than USD90, what else can I ask for? However, i need some recommendation about the lens side. Kiev C? Penta 6? Well, I need to find out more....and to make sure they can attached to my D70s... Where to get some cheap P6 or Kiev lens and which ones to get?<br>

The Arsat is a great alternative to the new PC-Nikkors which sells for more than USD1000, however, with this money, why don't I consider getting the old PC-Nikkor 28mm f/3.5?<br>

Finally, I know the old PC-nikkor isn't that wide on my DX, but do u think it gives good results on a FX? If so I'd like to consider that since it's just about USD700 which is half the price of the new PC-nikkors.<br>

    Thanks.<br>

(Of course I still love the idea of experimenting with cheap alternatives first before splashing my cash for a good lens this moment)</p>

  6. <p>The Nikkor PC is currently out of my budget (Which is USD100 to USD200) and I got a couple of questions I wish to ask you guys...Hope you can give me some good advice.</p>

<p>I shoot a lot of architectural pictures and apparently wide angle is not giving me the result I want. I did a serious research and upon recommendation of some fellows on the net, it seems like Perspective Control/Correction, PC in short, is something I need!<br>

So...after rounds of digging around the net, I discovered a couple of things:<br>

the old PC Nikkor 28mm f/3.5-to my surprise some of them are as expensive as the ones manufactured today. why is it so much sought after?<br>

the cheap lensbaby---I wonder if this cheap tilt-shift baby can do architectural pictures? most of the sample pictures i see on the online galleries have exaggerated bokeh...hmm...<br>

I wonder if there is an adapter or some sort of cheap accessories for my Nikon that can do a PC job? Or a dirt cheap lens?<br>

Or any old second hand dirt cheap lens that fits my nikon mount?<br>

Otherwise, what about some cheap vintage (but must give sharp images) with built in PC capabilities?</p>

    <p>Thanks for reading... :)</p>

  7. wait...can i use the AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D for general pictures like ordinary affairs, parties and children etc..., of course, I know it's good to use some other specific lens for best results, but well, I just wanna know.

PS: and, if a reversing ring/extension tube can be attached to a Micro lens?? I wonder if there's such combination? Just curious.....

  8. Thanks guys for your answers.

Macro and Micro (Confusion); I heard from some guys out there who said NIkon calls Marco lens Micro, is that true? And what exactly the 2 means? Are they for different purposes?

One more thing, since neither of my 2 lens (18-70mm, 28-200mm) is working fast in dark areas; ie, if I slow down the shutter speed, the results are bit blurry, or fast shutter speed, the picture would be too dark... so my friends suggested me getting a faster lens will larger aperture like the 50mm/f1.4/1.8. Getting a tripod for my camera is not always a good solution specially if I'm in a crowded party.

I need to take lots of party shots and shots in dark area, so probably I gotta invest one more lens of this kind.

What about a combination of this lens with a reversing ring?? So I can have this 50mm for 2 purposes.

    @KL

[Quote}You may actually want to consider hitting up your dad from some $$$ to get a used Nikon 60mm macro lens.

Not really necessary; I sponsor my own equipments, and suggestions like those I learn here are the most valuable things I need now :)

Reason why I won't get a MACRO lens this time is because I don't take too much Macro/Close-up shots. I just want an accessory/or what some people refer to as "special adapter" for my current lens so I can start learning and practising......

  9. The large difference in the threads was also what I worry about I told my dad when I read this a while ago. He said he doesn't know too much about digital, and won't give me further advice, and suggested me to ask my questions here instead.

Besides the 6T, are there any other good alternatives? Extension tubes??

    Thanks.

  10. Thanks Klix.

One thing to make sure about the numbers......if I remember correctly, the nikon 18-70mm has 67mm threads (is it how it is mentioned)

so in getting a Nikon 6T, that only has 62mm threads, shall I get a step-down ring or some extra accessories?? Thanks

(I can't really understand the 52mm/62mm etc threads...)

  11. Sorry, I know similar topics have been posted around during these months; I

Googled on the net on this as well, and that was what led me to Photo.net!

I've just got a Nikon D70s that comes with the 18-70mm kit lens, and I also got

an old AF 28-200/3.5-5.6 D IF (That came from my old F70)

I wanted to take some Close-ups of some beans and little turtles (that's 4 times

smaller than my palm! They're babies) and I need some suggestions on what sort

of additional accessories I need to get.

Definitely not a macro lens this time as I'm still a novice in Close-ups &

Macros, and don't want to invest too much money.

My dad recommended me to either get a reversing ring or an extension tube and

here are some problems which I want to make them clear......

    1. I wonder if the above 2 accessories mentioned above suit my 18-70mm or

28-200mm? These are the lens that I have.

    2. If the above question is no, which lens should I get then?

    3. If the answer for question 1 is YES, then which reversing ring/extension tube

    is recommended??

I did ask this question somewhere, but my net pals kept mentioning how their

    reversing rings/extension tubes work well with their 50mm f1.4/1.8; and I don't

understand what they meant by words like:

...It has 52mm threads, so it will mount directly to a 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8

Nikkor. I've only used primes reversed (mostly on bellows). Mounting it to the

kit zoom will require a step down ring from 67mm, but I have no idea what the

quality of the results would be like and I don't think you'll be able to control

aperture at all since it's a G lens......

Forgive me, I'm completely new to these terms so hope I can get some dummy

explanations.....A big thanks to all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas.
