that is simply fantastic. that's gotta be either a composite or the World's Calmest Horse© because if you've gotten on the ground near a horse, it flips them out. I like to see and try new perspectives on animals, and this is great. i can't think of a thing wrong with it
  1. fantastic composition, but it looks like it may be a stop underexposed. perhaps you could recover that some through levels. think how much the image would pop if lady liberty were a stop brighter! otherwise great image, and again, i really like the composition of this

this is a fantastic shot - i love it. i really appreciate that you let the light play the mood instead of trying to retain detail throughout. this is a 6/6 on my scale - if you were to include the entire top of the instrument to get that interesting curvature to it, then i would say it's a 7/7! thanks for sharing!

I like this shot quite a bit - a very good moment you've captured here. my suggestions to improve it would be to get the entire fan in frame next time if you can. the image also seems like it may be about a half stop underexposed - perhaps a levels adjustment could fix that. i also don't care for the border - it's a bit dominant and darkens the mood of the photo, i think a white border would be better. other than that it is a great image!
  2. I like your use of selective focus and the abstraction really works. what i don't like about the photo is the similarity in color between the subject and the background. i think it may work a little better if there was more color seperation from the background. i don't think it would have to be a whole lot, maybe if you just shifted it towards green a little. all in all, a very nice photo 6/6

this is a very nice composition and your tonal range is wonderful. my only critique of this is the sharpness - the focus seems a little on the soft side. perhaps an unsharp mask could put a little more spark to it?

Hi - it's hard to say whether you did a good job at the zone system or not, as that is really about what you envisioned in the image. As the other commentor said, you've got a full tonal scale going here, so from that standpoint, yes you achieved what you wanted. However the real test of the zone system is whether or not the image looks how *you* wanted it to look. Did you mean for the black of her underwear to be zone I - II? Did you mean for the silk to fade from zone V to zone III? Did you mean for the lace to go up from zone V to VIII? If so, then you did a good job. If not, then you may to revisit your metering and practice practice practice. You may also want, to supplement your class, to pick up Ansel Adamns "The Negative". About 50% is applicable to digital work, and it's very informative in terms of visualization and getting what you want out of an image. Overall, I feel this is a wonderful image - great execution and style.
