It's often very hard for many to understand just how fast you have to be to capture these remarkable insects. I take my hat off to you (well I dont have a hat but metaphorically speaking) as its a fabulous shot

Well I am not really 'back', just popping in :)
I totally lost faith with all the picture posting on here after ridiculous run ins and back stabbing. I just thought I would do it again as an experiment.
It's the first picture I have posted here in 2 years, but as the old ratings system has now changed (I only just noticed today) I thought I would give it another go. Todays picture has been well received, so I may well have a bit of a clear out and get the old portfolio up and running again to run alongside my own website. I do miss posting images.Your crop makes it look even better, I like it. I tend to think in magazine format so I dont stray too greatly from the ratio.
The image was taken using a Canon 5DIR, coverted by Advanced Camera Systems here in the UK. Its been a total revelation to say the least and I am utterly addicted to the IR medium, both black and white and colour. it turns my world into a dream and I use it extensively, carrying it in the camera bag at all times when shooting landscapes.
I have used a polariser to darken the skies and add more contrast. This was attached to my Contax 35-70 lens, f11 for 1/15th sec.

Well, its a rising hillside, not really a horizon, so I cant do much about that...
-
Its far more fun with a lens. You have to wait for interaction, also to truly see the effect in viewfinder makes you look even harder. This looks far better as a larger jpeg as the woman in the middle becomes more prominent.

Three swimmers take a break on a tiny pebble in a puddle.

...and noted. I will certainly address this, as now you have pointed it out I agree. It could do with a fresh coat of paint.

Again, a competition winning image. Enter Digital Camera this year and clean up!

Absolutely magical, and thats from someone who ditched Photo.net lately. I dont say 'absolutely magical' to anyone.

A warm day on Abraham Lake in Canada. After only two days of shooting abstract ice, the entire lake became covered in snow. Time to change tactics.

Nice one Drew, that made my day.

haha, that made me laugh Peter. I'm still going through withdrawl.

Certainly, 30secs at f4, 28mm ISO 800

I do question why you think all the highlights are blown Norman...
-
Yeah it would never have been possible, its literally ice rather than snow but there are plenty of footprints from that day too. The sun is playing a major part in this shot even though it disappeared almost three quarters of an hour before I took the image. It's a game of compromise. Glad you like it anyway Paul.

There I was at Westcombe Bay and I messed up the tides completely. After clambering around on the only rocks I could find, something felt strangely familiar... when I got home there it was. I was Burtonised!
Now I think with all due respect if I post a picture with the same capture point, it's important you see Adams shot too.

Happy Christmas Mr Burton from Mr Clapp :)

Snow does strange things to sky colours and this flurry of powdery snow heading east was a mixture of pinks and greys, exaggerated by the low evening sun.
-
Taken at very last light to say the least. The saturated blue sky tones and the soft magentas were just sublime.

Classic atmosphere, but I would have liked an adjusted white balance to make the whole picture less orange. Perhaps try a black and white as well?

Greetings from Valencia...
Cheers for any comments on this site, I really appreciate it. Cheers Dave, I may start start posting more and more.
Well spotted Rolph, its a formula for calculating bending, very applicable in this case and totally pointless like you say.
More to come from Dusseldorf, Shanghai and lastly a revisit to Valencia before I start a commission shooting the UK in summer time.
