I like the idea of the "Compare/Buy" tab, however, it is a shame that your chosen comparison site links to US shops only. Given the international nature of photo.net it would be good to link either to an international site, or to different sites based on the location of the user who clicks on the tab.
Thanks,
Simon

Yes, this happens to me all the time - if I try to log in from the homepage it doesn't work. I use multiple browsers, but all based aroudn the Gecko engine (the core of Firefox) on multiple operating systems. As a result I never log in from the home page, instead I go to the "My Portfolio" page and log in from there. That always works for me.

Ray,
On http://www.photo.net/photodb/manage-ratings it simply says that text that I quoted above, and then gives me links to the photos or photographer; there are no links to edit or delete the ratings.
Editing a rating by reselecting a new value works as described earlier in this thread from the individual photo page, but you cannot delete a rating in this way.
One for the "request for enhancements" pile perhaps?

Thanks for the helpful replies. Unfortunately from the "My Workspace" page, the edit ratings page says:

Please note: The capability to edit or delete ratings has been disabled.

Cheers,
Is it possible for a user to remove the ratings of other users' photos that they
have made in the past?
Thanks,
Simon

I just noticed that my subscription to Photo.Net expired over a month
ago. I don't remember getting an notification of the expiry, which
means that I forgot to renew it. Perhaps you could implement an email
notification system to warn people that their subscriptions are about
to expire and encourage them to renew?

Try the Kirk flash brackets, they do various forms one of which is likely to fit your requirements. Another alternative would be the Wimberley Shape Shifter kit.

Eduardo,
In general it is a good site (as good as Flash sites ever are). However, I *really* *dislike* sites that resize my browser window, or popup a new window. I want control of my browser, the web author has control of the server.

Try Fixation. They are a Nikon official service centre. They have a list of bodies that they can repair, which does not include the F-401s, but it must be worth calling them to ask.

I have tried a few, but never got on with them. Theyseem to be very firm and wanting to hold their shape no matter what, which makes it difficult to get some gear in, and means that they do not hug my body comfortably.
The Domke is a nice bag if you are happy with that little padding, alternatively the Tenba MetroPaks are like the Domke, but with more foam. I use a Tenba, see http://www.tenba.com/camera/metropak.htm.

Yes, the ring is expensive for what it is. I found the camera to be fairly unbalanced without it, so I prefered to suffer the pain of the cost.

I use an EOS-300 with the 70-200/4L and have had no problems. You might want to get a different strap rather than the standard Canon one or your shoulder might suffer from the extra weight of the lens. The lens can take an optional ring tripod mount which in my opinion is essential, but it is expensive (at least over here in the UK). As for holding it, I find that if you cup the lens in the normal way the centre of gravity falls naturally on the zoom ring, so that's where I hold it when it is not on the tripod.
Have fun with it!
Simon.
Access to Community and Neighbour pages
in PhotoNet Site Help
Posted
How do we get to the Community and Neighbor sections of the site without
knowing their URLs? There doesn't appear to be a way of getting to these pages
from the home page, or the forums page. There is a link to the Community page on
the "My workspace" page, but that seems a touch obscure. I have always thought
that the Neighbor section in particular had the makings of a really useful
resource, but having it buried away like this seems to be saying that it is no
longer interesting.
