<p>You said: " it's just <strong>a pain</strong> to see them every time you look through the view finder"<br>
You should send your camera to Canon.</p>

<p>Tripod: better in terms of camera stability and the best for creating crisp images. Monopods will never have the stability of a tripod, however, are great for when you go hiking they are lightweight. <a id="KonaLink2" href="http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/31941.aspx" target="undefined"> </a><br>

<p>1.4x Teleconverter: small and light, provides excellent IQ but slow AF slightly, the shots look a little "soft" <br>
2x Teleconverter: 2 stops down and some loss of image quality <br /> </p>

<p>Canon 400mm L 5.6: For optical performance it does not get better than this. <br>
Canon 100-400 L: This is a nice lens, but push-pull zoom, vignetting wide open, soft, <br /> just ok Bokeh and dust Pump. <br /> </p>

<p>Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM</p>

<p>I vote for 5DmkII with 24-105/4L IS and 40D with 70-200/2.8L IS.<br /> 70-200/2.8L is a must have for all photographer that are in need of an all-around lens, the weight is nicely balanced with 40D. You will not regret.<br /></p>

<p>Canon and Nikon are as good as each other. They are different, but just as good. Canon and Nikon or both excellent manufacturer of camera equipment with strong and weak points. Different cameras have different capacities and advantages. What is most important is not the camera, but the person operating it.</p>

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM<br>
This lens offers all you need in action photography with bonus in sharpness. <br>
Indoor sports, concerts, weddings and candid is where this lens will shine the most. <br>
I am amazed with this lens. <br>

This is a good average lens. It is not a low light, fast moving, point and click lens. In good daylight, this lens just rocks! Very sharp, wonderfully contrasty. Canon 100-400mm L IS a very versatile lens. You can use this lens for just about anything, it's not as sharp as prime lenses, but it comes very close.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM.
This is my favorite lens, the f/2.8 allows me to control DOF much better than 100-400. Zooming is easy and the
lens does not extend while focusing or zooming. I really love this lens!

If money not an issue for your, you should get D3. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d3.htm

Great lens, this is one of Canon's 3 "Holy Grail" zooms. Used with 1.4x as well, result still pretty ideal. This is the a lens you must have if you like sports photography.

You should get 16-35 f2.8 or 24-70 f2.8
Try this http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/lenses/16-35mm.htm

I agree with Yakim. I got 1D M III and I never looked back. Best regards.

For landscape and studio: 5D.
For wild life: 1D Mark III.
For saving: 40 D.
And if you can afford : 1ds Mark III (but not for birds).
-
You should upgrade to 40D.
For sports, if you don't want to spend $4,500 for the 1D Mk III, you should get a 40D for $1,299.99 brand new. For landscapes and portraits, the 5D is better but costs about double the 40D . For indoor, the 40D works pretty fast, built tough, and the AF of the 40D is accurate.

I totally agree with Eric Merrill and David Hay.
Should I switch from Canon to Nikon for weddings?
