I'm considering a Nikon N8008S on ebay. Can anybody tell me if this camera can
be focused manually or is it exclusively autofocus?

Mike - It was my 1st SLR also. I bought it in 1969 for, as I recall right around $300. It still works fine although I rarely use it since going to digital a few years back. I use a camera primarily for vacation photos and the digital is so much nicer because you can view and edit your pictures on the laptop each evening - before you forget what they are. I just kind of wanted the flash shoe so the camera would be complete. The one I found through this forum looks exactly like the original and has a rubber cushion to prevent the denting you mention.

Frank - The link to "The Camera Hunter" was the ticket! Just what I was looking for. Thanks Again.

Thanks Frank, I'll give it a try. You're right - it was a great camera and still is. I have a newer "automatic" Nikon but prefer the Mamiya it's easier to use and gives great results. I do have an accessory bar but would like to find one of the original shoes. Thanks again.

The Mamiya Sekor 1000 DTL had a spring loaded flash shoe that slipped on to the
view finder. The spring on mine broke and the shoe will not secure to the
viewfinder. Does anyone know where I can get one??
