I'm affraid I don't find it that obvious that its a hat she is holding, there just arn't enough clues in this one photo. The baloons do help to set the context, but i don't think its enough to get the idea accross

My first thought is that the contrast is a bit low, at least on the statue. I know its probably completely imposible, but my instinct would be to move the photographer towards the statue, and crop it into something closer to a vertical panoramic format.

Your model has a great face, and an expression that says to me she is just about to smile, or just about to frown, and i'm not sure which. It creates a mystery which for me holds my attention.
Technically the far shoulder is a bit distracting, and she dissapears into the background on the bottem right
Some might say that its a bit overexposed for skin tones, but I really like it that way as it makes the skin look so good

I think this is great. When I look at it I think "what is she thinking about?" which bringes the (assumed) answer that she is preparing for a performance. All I would change is maybe rotate the flute a bit cause at the moment the hole is a bit off centre and draws my attention too much

I like what I can see, but I have to say the monitor i am on isn't calibrated well and I can't relly see enough to get more than an impression cause its too dark.

I like it - but she feels a bit craped in there with her arms to close to the edge of the frame. I love the lighting on the hair (which I am guessing is uplighting from behind?) but it would have been cool to be able to make out her legs. They just appear to be non-existant

I'm affriad that I agree with the other comments. I don't really see the point of this photo. I you could have moved to your right and shot between peoples heads and had the face of the woman with the glasses and seen the subject of everyones facination, then it would be a lot better

Wow, everytime I go into a darkroom I am dreaming of producing something like this

Hef left shoudler is at an odd adgle, get her to pull it back a bit. The light is reflecting too much off the gloss lipstick.
Other than that I really like this one. I like the depth of the black background

I'm affraid this photo doesn't do much for me. I think its that the 3/4 portrait has given her quite a round face, and then using the square format makes her face fill too much of the frame. In this case I think a little bit of context in the image would help. Maybe have her resting her head on the edge of the bath...?

I like the idea, but I think it could have been executed better. Imagine for a moment how it would have looked if you had shot from floor level, and zoomed so that the band in the background look up all of the Frame. Then the children dancing in the forground would have been nice and large in the frame, and you really would have that feeling that the band was there just for the two kids and no one else.
By shooting at about f/4 you could have had the kids in sharp focus, but the band still recognisable, if blurred, in the background. That would have given the dancers the impact they deserve. I also would prefer to see the dancers faces rather than the back of their heads.
Definatly worth seeing if you can find the band playing again with someone dancing and try to redo ;-)

This photo is one of a series I did on a dance company. The quality
on this photo is not great because its only a small part of a 35mm
frame, on 800 speed film, in very contrasty light.
The dance was based on the film Moulin Rouge, and I was trying to
capture some of that atomosphere.

I like it!
At first glace I thought it was a photo of a couple of poloar bears with some wierd solarisation effects. Keep it up. It could be cool to try the same effect with more abstract shapes

I like the colours on the chair and model, but i'm not keen on the shadows on the background. You can also make out the circle of light on the background.
Having seen this shot I think if I were to use a ring flash I would light the background speratly and have the model far away enough from the background to avoid any shadows.
-
I love the symmetry, it might be cool to not echo the symmetry in the part of the shot that is outside the garden. So you have symmetry inside but not outside
maybe a bit too cliche though
-
I think there is a bit too much fall off (in terms of exposure) towards the back/middle of the picture.
-
Did you do another shot with the water forzen? I think it would be interesting to see the comparison
-
Wow
I really have to go to richmond more often

I saw this in a local wildlife centre.

I think you need a bit more contrast between the skin and the grass over her shoulder. the background seems just a little too average,
darkenign the whole pic so the backgorund is say on zone II and the skin a bit darker might look good

A friend of mine is doing a degree in stage lighting. Her final project was to taking lighting out of the theatrical context and she and a partner created 5 different zones representation creation by the 4 elements and one zone was a represnetation of the creative force. I guess you could interpret this as a representation of God. This photo is of the centrepeice of that final zone.
The rest of the photos can be seen on my Photo Archive in roll A25 (and roll A26 when I have finished scanning it)
