  1. Alex,

I *HIGHLY* recommend this combination. I started with the Bogen 3001 and the 3413QR, and the Bogen tripod strap. This combination costed around <$150 total, and I have used it for the last 3 years. I have put all my lenses on it, and have even upgraded to medium format and used this tripod.

I have abused this tripod all over street photography in New York, throughout the sandy dunes and canyons of the Southwest, I took it waistdeep in Mono Lake last year (nearly submerged all the way to the ballmount), it has been in snow, and throughout Southeast Asia with me. Considering how it has saved literally THOUSANDS of long-exposure and long focal length shots, I find it to be one of the best deals I have ever spent on photography.

I have taken a few workshops with pros that has those $400 ballheads, but honestly I have not found the advantages to be lacking in my current hobby.

    Best wishes,

    Keith

  2. This is slightly off-topic, but I'm current in Hong Kong waiting to depart to Nepal and Tibet for a large photo trip this summer. I noticed today that Provia 400F sells for $53 HKD, which is around $7.50 USD.

This isn't bad when you consider how, just last week, B&H, Adorama, and my local photo stores were all out of 35mm Provia 400F and were charging at least $10 a roll if they had it in stock.

  3. That's weird... I was just there last month and the people at the hotel told us that we still had to go on guided tours in there (by some jeep company based in Page). So now they just let you in without any sort of professional guides?
