Taken while on a boat trip just north of Key West. Had to wait forjust the right moment, and it was only possible to get 2 shots beforethe whole scene faded into a bland, gray.

Kim,
After seeing your wonderful picture, I was prompted into action and posted 2 similar pics of my own. Not the same mountain, but one of my pics has such similar rock textures it's hard to tell the difference.

Pueblo Indians built their homes against the cliffs at the base of
these cliffs over 400 years ago.
I was taken by the textures of the rocks, and the evidence of the
cliffs' historical significance.

Issabella,
Believe it or not, it was shot with a hand-held EVF super-zoom. I.e. not a D-SLR. It was a Konica/Minolta Z10, that I no longer have.

Brownhooded Kingfisher - Pilanesberg, South Africa.
Had to sneak up on this little guy - every time he looked away I got
half a step closer - and managed to grab this pic about half a second
before he realized I was just 5 feet away and flew off.

Hundreds of years ago, the Pueblo Indians built homes in the cliffs of
New Mexico. The Bandelier National Park is a fascinating place to
visit - and photograph.

This picture presented itself while we were sailing back to Key West
late one evening.
The pic is unaltered.

An old railway bridge over a foggy gorge on the Whites Pass railway
line in Alaska.

Not only were we humans in the area - but a rogue bull had been
causing trouble at the fringes of the herd, upsetting the youngsters.
So this mother elephant was very protective of her calf.

Very nice. I have a VERY similar pic taken from the Bainbridge Island ferry. Mine may not be worth submitting here, though...

Great picture. (Perhaps I'm only saying that because I have the same pic!)
This pic benefits from the dramatic effect of your leaning over the train's rail just before going over the rickety bridge.

The Amazonian Bora Tribe - Viewed From The River
in Journalism
Posted
Viewed from a canoe on the Nanay river, about 2 miles downstream from
the Amazon - members of the reclusive Bora tribe watch me watching them.
Comments welcome.
