My friend has asked me to shoot a couple of shots for their hair catalogue.

They will provide the model, makeup, and style their hair. I have shot

wedding + family gatherings, but never done this style before. There is no

studio, I will simply shoot inside the hair salon.

 

Any tips for me?

I have the Canon UV filer on mine and see no vignetting.

I own the 10-22 and I love it. I think it depends on what other lens you have or planning to buy. IMO, 10-22 is more unique range than 17-40 which can be replaced by other Canon lens.

echo the blower to clean the sensor dust. My 30d showed visible dust with two weeks of usage.

 

Camera bag: look into the Lowepro slingshot AW200

 

Filter: for sure

 

Hood: sometimes come with the lens

 

Tripod: best investment I made so far

 

Memory: so cheap nowadays, go with two (one as backup)

I tested both in store and went with the Canon for my 30d. I love it and the PQ is excellent. Comparable to my L lens.

Any good locations for good nature shoot in Washington State?

I have a 30d and like to buy a flash for it. I would consider non-Canon

brand. Any experience with it?

 

Best flash for your money?

 

What about Sto-Fen Omnibounce? Useful? Alternative?

 

I read in an older post that some flash are not "tailer-made" for 30d? Is

there one that is?

Good post so far. I too invested on the EF-S format and hope it will stick around for awhile. Until competitors offer a full line of full-frame sensors, I don't think Canon feels any pressure to drop a very successful crop size.

You could post some of your photo here and let us know what you think the problem is. And we could give you feedbacks from there.

I purchased two L lenses before I got my 30d. No regrets getting them. Catch that L-disease.

It is not as sharp as my 24-70 or 10-22 indoor, but it does its job outdoor.

I have a Canon 30d + 24-70 f2.8 + 70-200 f4

 

I want to get the Manfrotto 785B tripod and afraid the 24-70 is too heavy and

70-200 is too long for the tripod to properly balance. Anyone use that tripod

or have an opinion?

 

I'm looking for a lightweight hiking tripod, do you have one to suggest for me?
