Thanks a lot Mark! Yep, it was a bit tricky, especially because I don’t have any studio lights. I used two desktop lights one with hard light from the left and one with softer light from the right, a tripod and a remote control, and some Photoshop to darken it a bit and colour the eyes.

Great photography Marc! I have enjoyed your work for quite long time her at photo.net and I believe that you are very talented! The sky in this shot is the most amazing part but I have to say that I think the image is way too dark. If you push the highlights the image would really pop and look sparkling. You shouldn’t have to look at the monitor in a dark surrounding because then the image is too dark. We use special daylight light tubes in the professional photo labs and in the digital retouch room we just have a few less light tubes to make it slightly darker than in the printing room but the difference shouldn’t be that much…

Thank you, I am glad you like it. I actually won a photo contest with this photo and first prize was a trip to Thailand all inclusive together with 27 other winners from Europe. But unfortunately I was in a climbing acident last week and broke my leg so I couldn't go on the trip. I am hoping that they will let me go next year if the event holds again.

I went up early in the morning to catch the sunrise and saw this monk
take his morning walk at the beach collecting food for the day.

Nice colours and a pretty view of the fjord.
Cheers!

Any comments are welcome. I was quite surprised when I caught
something that looks like UFOs over Valletta. This is not digitally
altered, if it is some kind of light reflection or actual UFOs I will leave up
to you.

Thanks for the good comment!
Hehe it's tricky with food shoots that you plan to eat because you don't have many minutes to get it right before it gets cold =)
Have been planning to try a spray of water or maybe oil to make the salad look fresh, but felt the lack of time and will try it next time.
