  1. I've seen this problem posted before but have never seen a definitive answer to the following possible solution:

I've used an SB 800 with my D200 for about the past year now. As time has gone by a non-existent misfiring

problem has turned into an all too common occurrence. My SB 800 misfires so often now I'm using one of my SB

600's that I have primarily as one of my CLS flashes as my main flash. The question that I have regards a

possible problem / solution I've read...

It was suggested that a number of hotshoes on the D200 didn't fit the SB 800 as well as they should have. A

solution was given to mount the flash on a bracket and connect a more securely fitting SC-29 on the hotshoe.

Does anyone know if this is a solution to the misfiring problem?

    Much thanks in advance!

Just an FYI - I've tried every fix I could think of short of sending the flash back to Nikon; cleaning the

battery contacts, cleaning the flash / hotshoe contacts, using fresh and fully charged batteries, so forth...

    Thanks again!!!

  2. Jennie, I completely agree with Russ, the Demb Flip-It is the best!! You can bounce your light as well as diffuse it, and it's completely adjustable! I have 2 SB-800's and 3 SB-600's (yes, I'm a Nikon Creative Lighting System geek...) and I have a Jumbo Flip-It for all of them. One of the neat things about this product, as well as being very versatile, is that if you have your SB-800 at a 45 degree angle (it does it's magic with the top of the flash facing the side of your subject not straight-on) you get this subtle Rembrandt, in-studio light effect. For less than $40 you can't go wrong!

  3. I was just wondering how other phine phello photographers were handling the

initial copying, or importing, of images from multiple CF cards within

Lightroom. I usually come back from a wedding with a handful of cards and my

system has been to import each card into it's own separate folder, process the

images in LR and CS, then export the finished folder into another folder named

"Final". This system has worked for me but I'm always open for input to

something new(and maybe faster)! How do you handle multiple cards?

  4. Thanks to the both of you! I've gone ahead and ordered his DVD on Flow Posing... looking forward to seeing it! Anne, I'm all for the auction! From what I've heard he does sound like a blast to work with! I was wondering, what twist did you add to his concept? I'm asking this blind, of course, being that I'm totally unaware of any of his concepts! ;)
  5. I was looking into purchasing either the Zigview (R2-SRN) or the Dot Line

wireless remote for my D200. I typically don't purchase non- Nikon accessories

but had heard some "decent" things about these products. If anyone has worked

with either of these and would like to share an opinion I would appreciate it!

    Thank you!

  6. Thank you for the input Jeff. There are a few small recording studios here; that sounds like a good place to start. Thank you for your input as well, Ni. Do you have any specific links to the sites you think have decent music? I haven't had much luck...

NTBD - I'm not necessarily looking for background music for my site but rather music I can put on clients slideshow DVD's.

  7. Thank you for the clarification, Jeff. This whole process is frustrating, though. I haven't done too much research into royalty free music, which seems to be my (our) only option, but what I have heard sounds terrible. Are you (or anyone else) familiar with any site that has decent music?
  8. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with classical music. Are pieces from the likes of Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and the like part of the public domain or are there copyright issues with them as well? We really seem to be limited as far as using music goes... I'm not sure that spending around $60 for a 4 minute royalty free song off the internet that sounds like something I did on my Casiotone back in the mid '80's makes for a great presentation. Nor do I think spending thousands of dollars to purchase the right to play a recent song once makes much sense either. My understanding, from what I've read on previous posts on this topic, is that it's nearly impossible to get in touch with the powers that be anyway. Is there quality music out there at a reasonable price that anyone is familiar with?
  9. I didn't know Hoya supplied optical glass to Leica, good to know! And to answer your question, yes, the Hoya 72mm UV Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated filter is $73.50 at B&H and the Hoya 72mm Haze UV(0) (HMC) Multi-Coated filter is $37.50. Makes me wonder if there really IS something different about it to justify the 2x price. Or do they hope to bank on people being gullible...
  10. I've recently invested in a Sigma 18-50 2.8 and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 to go with my

D-70s and D-200. I've used multi-coated Hoya UV filters on other lenses and

I've been happy with the results. I was just wondering what the difference is

between a digital UV filter vs. and non-digital UV filter and is it worth

investing in the digital version? Thanks for your time!

  11. Hi Tammie,

If you have the ability to burn your own DVDs I would suggest making a short slide show presentation, (under five minutes), showing it after you present your albums to your potential clients, then give them the DVD to take home with them. My clients have really loved this because its convenient to pop it in at their home to show others and revisit your work at anytime without having to get online to see your site. Recordable DVDs are pretty inexpensive and with some nice packaging makes for a nice marketing piece for your future client! Best of luck, Tammie!

  12. Hi Zofia,

I know this isn't an answer to your question but you had mentioned picking-up a Nikon 50 1.4; have you looked at the Nikon 50 1.8? I have this lens and have been very happy with it! The construction isn't as solid but it's about half the price of the 1.4.

Just thought you'd like to know!
