Thank you so very much all. I'm trying to experiment more with mood and less on technical. It's wonderful to receive input that I'm in the right direction.

Seems that we have a somewhat similar concept in style with some of our images! Flocks of birds are great. They always fly in a pattern, yet are always erratic in their own way. This is a good one!

How did you go about merging the images? The result seems to be extremely successful. You are a master of capturing the spirit of a place without adding any unnecessary "effects". You really are fortunate that you have this entire "playground" so close at hand.

I am so glad that others see this as more than just concrete. I have been struggling for the past several months creatively and finally feel that over this past weekend I was able to pull out some positive things. I'm sure everyone experiences some frustration with their work at some point or another, but I suppose that's what makes us grow.

Wow, thank you all so much for your comments. I must honestly say that this was not one of my favorite pieces that I've done. I felt that it worked in some ways, but am humbled by the responses that it has gotten.

I keep taking breaks from this site, but I keep missing it and coming back. Thank you Juan and Mike for always making me feel welcome!

    Charles,

I have to confess that this shot was a little bit of a happy accident. I was focusing on the bumblebees that were in this area. I just quickly got a shot of this one and then moved on. It wasn't until I was reviewing my images weeks later that I discovered there was an unintended subject in this one. I am just thankful that the mantis was sharp enough to be decipherable.

    Robert,

I agree that I would have liked it to have been sharper. Unfortunately the fleeting opportunity and waning daylight left me little time to aim for technical perfection.

This is gorgeous. The only thing that could have possibly been improved upon, is if the cloud cover would not have caused a shadow on the upper half of the cliff on the right....but that's no fault of yours. Still a great shot!

    Very beautiful!

It has a great atmospheric perspective, and I like the fact that it is not too contrasty or overly saturated. Great vignette at the edges. Classy
