1.
I need a better camera to shoot a few weddings this year.....and limited budget puts me in to this
area about $400 range...Ive been seeing these 2 cameras that I like.....
I like the bigger 3" screen on the XSi.....but I've heard about the auto focus problems......and this is very important issue at weddings moving fast.....
I like the PC sync plug on the 30D...which will be a more reliable flash shooter..but its heavier.....and less MPx.....and smaller screen.....
anyone have any experience with these cams...or have a better one in this price range...?
Best of health David G

  2.
I have just the basic generic hot shoe adapter with PC plug in..sits on top of hot shoe.....it was less than $10...
cord is good and tight....no problem there/......I use the PC tip conditioner...and it runs the studio lights good...no misfires....

but does any one know of 1 that U can really rely on...that doesnt misfire a lot.....I've heard the wien is a good 1....otherwise...the only camera out there in my price range is a canon 30D.....which is a good camera...but
the ones i've seen are very used.....
if I could find a reliable hot Shoe adapter...I could get a much better deal....with lenses....

thanks David G

  3.
I also thought of powerpoint but was thinking it is more of a business office tool...but maybe not...
some good suggestions...I will go look at the jalbum and the GiveAwayOfTheDay.com......
so I can even do slide shows in Photoshop.?....I didn't know that either.....ok...got some work to do....
here is a guy in my area who does a really nice slide show presentation....I hope he doesnt mind
me showing it here....is his link......I also like the one of engagements...great music.....
4.
I have been wanting to create a slide show for a while...so I got program called Photo Story 3 for windows...
it has great fading features...but since my son scanned the pictures in too small..they are low quality...so
I will rescan them again...but since it takes so much time to make it...I would like to know what other programs
people have used so I won't waste my time on bad program...
I also have Roxio Creator 9 XE and Nero 7 essentials...but have not used either one yet...
also I have been researching what is best size to scan photos.....I got no larger than 800 x 600....72 pixels...
but I just want a program where the avg Bride can go net and see slide show....
thanks David G

  5.
Hi Alwin,
I used a program called Photo Story 3 for windows....by M S ...it had great fading features but
I ended up with a no-go because my son scanned the images too small....so now I want to start all over and rescan images..but thats an all day sucker....
it's always better to scan them larger then U can resize them smaller...but U cant make them bigger....can you tell me about what size(MBs) are your images...they are very sharp and high quality but like U said,,,the fades are quite sudden...
I also have a program called Roxio Creator 9XE and Nero...does anyone know if these programs would be good for slilde show...?
thanks David G

  6. I'm in agreemnet with Ikka, I've been using manual focus for 24 yrs,

so I'm not losing the auto focus(which I find is not accurate much of the time)and so maybe I shoot twice, it;s the digital age, just look at pic and shoot again, why spend money for meter? ther's no doubt the 20mm will be higher quality, but for now I just need few shots of inside of a bldg and don't want to spend $400 for that, next wedding season if i get the bookings I will buy the lens, I have to look at it like a business, you can end up spending more than you make in the new digital photog if not careful,

and YES, I got a big 'ol bag of super hi-res minolta sharp & crisp lenses, from fisheye to 100mm portrait lenses, to commercial 18-80 stabilizing zooms etc.. I got to find a way to convert or I'm OUT 'o business.

and Nice pics Godfrey, I LOVE that Nikkor 20mm

  7. just wondering if anyone has tried the lens adapters advertised on

ebay made in china, they claim you can use just about any manual

mount film lens to about any digital EF focus bodies. for us poor

boys who can't afford the big prices for the digital lenses, what

is the quality, is it worth buying one for about $40, or would it

be better to just rent a lens for a week for about the same price?

    any opinions out there?

  8. I did a routine photo session in studio and was first time I

shot raw w/canon reb xt, when i went to open images in PS-CS2

it keeps giving me this redX window saying, "Could not complete

your request because it is not the right kind of document."

I'm new to digital and don't have a clue what that means and cannot

open images in my other 2programs as well, they must not accept

Raw images, I wish i would have shot in Jpeg, does any one know the

solution here? I can see the images on the viewfinder and they look

    just fine in camera.

  9. I'm just getting into digital but was wondering how would a regular 35mm

color negative at say 160 asa scanned to a CD and then Printed at say

    8 x 10 compare to a canon 6.3 or 8.0 MPX,printed the same size? Also when I

take film to the lab they always scan at 300 dpi, they tell me this is the

best resolution to scan, but when I scan prints to cd I have to scan at

600-1200dpi to get acceptable quality 4 x 6 prints, just not understanding

why this is. Can I scan a negative to get the same quality as a digital file

    or not possible?

    thanks David G

  10. Thanks everyone for great help, I'm using the vivitar 285's which are

a fantastic 8 way variable power strobe, hand held w/pc cord from

the hot foot-adapter extension w/pc plug and talked to Canon and they said it should work too, and I am betting it will work also.

just wondering why canon didn't put pc outlet on the XT, suppose it is to sell the bigger cameras-all about Marketing I suppose.

regards and best of Health David G
