  1. The pendentives feature four unidentical angel figures. It is believed that

    these one headed six winged angels (seraphim) protect the Lord’s

    Throne in Heaven. The angels featured in the East are composed of

    mosaics whereas the two in the West have been damaged during the

    Eastern Roman period and have been renewed as fresco.

     

    The faces of the angel figures featured on the pendentives were covered

    up with star shaped metallic lids during the Ottoman period. During the

    mosaic renovations in 2009, the lids covering the angel figures’ faces

    were opened and revealed.

  2. Istanbul at Haydarpaşa Train Station:

     

    Having received intensive interest from Istanbul residents for 4 days, the

    event series will meet with Istanbul residents again on 10-11-12

    December. This time a location focused performance –specifically

    prepared for Haydarpaşa Train station by the Istanbul 2010 European

    Capital of Culture Agency’s Theatre and Performing Arts- called Istanbul

    Istanbul and a video mapping show called Yekpare will present

    unforgettable moments to Istanbul residents.

     

    "Yekpare" is video mapping show peculiar to Istanbul, telling about a

    history of 8.500 years from pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantium to

    Latin Empire…where the history of Istanbul is blended with the story of

    today. Created by Candaş Şişman, Deniz Kader and Görkem Şen in last

    June within the scope of “Spring at Haydarpaşa Train Station” events, will

    reflect the magical beauty and profound past of Istanbul for three days on

    the surface of Haydarpaşa looking to Kadıköy.
