1.
When attempting to upload some images today, after some months of not having done so, I encountered the following error message, on a blank grey page, preventing me from uploading: Error #2048
Any idea what is causing this problem and how it can be fixed?

 2.
John Smith,
I am not sure which version of the 6D you possess, but mine came with WiFi built-in to it.
It has been working properly ever since Camerainthepost supplied the solution in February.

I understand they do or did make a 6D version without WiFi, for places like North Korea, maybe,
which is presumably why you are referring to the "need to buy a WFT".
You don't, provided you have the regular 6D with in-built WiFi.

 3.
Tom DeRentis. When a service supplier ignores the wishes of the huge number of its customers who supply negative feedback to it, you are left with the choice to put up and shut up, or walk. I walked - to Ipernity as my Flickr substitute.
You will find it is remarkably similar to the old Flickr before Marissa Mayer's troops decided they knew best what the customers wanted.
Incidentally I see that Panoramio is now fooling about with their layout as well, and not for the better.

 4.
I am old enough now that nothing should surprise me any more, but that a bunch of, I suppose, professional website designers can screw something up so totally comprehensively and be paid for it, is beyond belief.
I have about 5,500 images on Flickr on a paid subscription basis. I will be looking for a new home for them, if there is not urgent action taken by whoever makes decisions to go ahead with changes without consulting the users. It is #101 of computer systems: Consult the user, duh!
What’s wrong? Well, so far,
#1 I should be able to set default to my own photostream.
#2 Full screen imagery alternative was already there with Flickriver – if it aint broke, why fix it?
#3 Switching on an image to full screen results in the dance of the dots, and nothing else – or my patience ran out before the result appeared.
Flickr's owners need to get a grip urgently and start paying attention to their customer feedback. So far it appears to be overwhelmingly negative. That is not because people don’t like change, which is the usual excuse trotted out by writers of crappy software, but because it is crappy in its present state.
That there should already be 284 pages of adverse comment in less than a week on their own Forum asking for feedback, without a squeak out of flickr, speaks for itself…http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157633547442506/
I have already used Bulkr (http://clipyourphotos.com/bulkr) to download all my flickr images to my p.c. with all their EXIF data integrated into the imagery, in anticipation of looking for a new home if Miss Marissa Mayer of Yahoo/Flickr doesn’t get to grips with sorting this shambles.
It seems her game plan is to open it up to the teenybopper generation posting their duckface snaps from their iphones to Flickr - lots of luck with boosting ad revenues with that strategy! In the meantime there are thousands of disgruntled photographers seeking new homes for their collections, with a number heading for Ipernity.
Thank goodness Photo.net does not put us through this nonsense...

 5.
An update: a solution to the problem, has been supplied by the technical people at www.camerainthepost.com, who had supplied the 6D to me in the first instance. They responded to my pleas for help with the following advice:
QUOTE
we think the problem may be caused by the network setting in Windows XP. It is possible that your computer's firewall setting/sharing setting has blocked the network discovery function which make the PC failed to discover the camera, though the camera is connected to the same network.
We'd commend you to check your PC's network setting and make sure UPnP - also called network discovery function is turned on so it can recognize other devices in the same network like the camera.
To find how to enable UPnP function, please refer to: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001367.htm#2.
UNQUOTE
The UPnP function had not been activated, or had been deactivated, so that was sorted, and I discovered that AVG PC TuneUp software in Turbo mode had turned off synchronisation with mobile devices and limited support for cameras and scanners. Unchecking those limitations, and we were back in business with p.c. recognizing camera by wifi.
I hope this may help others struggling with a less than totally helpful Canon help desk.
Incidentally, I commend camerainthepost.com to anyone contemplating buying camera equipment - they provide superb service out of Hong Kong. Equipment worth almost $5,000 ordered on a Sunday evening, was with me by lunchtime on Wednesday in northern Scotland, at a considerable saving compared to local UK prices.
6.
Despite a couple of exchanges by phone and e-mail with Canon Technical Support, we are no further forward. I uninstalled ALL Canon software on my p.c. shut the p.c. down, and reinstalled the software which came with the 6D, from the disc.
I reset all settings on the 6D - Still the same problem. I also disconnected and restarted the router...there's not a lot else left, unless you can come up with a successful fix which I haven't yet thried or thought of. Any further suggestions would be most welcome, short of sending it back to Canon!

 7.
I have both disabled the wi-fi at the camera end and re-enabled it. It always seems to find my router without any problem after I have loaded its wireless network name and wireless key. I have also re-set the router itself - still no joy...Canon technical support are open on Monday. so I will try them next, although I am not that confident as they told someone else that the 6D Wi-Fi won't work with Windows XP. That is rubbish, as I had it working already!

 8.
In early January I bought a Canon 6D. While setting it up, i also successfully paired it through its wifi facility to my PC operating XP SP3. The pairing software operated without any hitches. Today when I reverte to attempting to download through wifi, the pc's EOS Utility's WFT pairing software screen remained blank, not recognizing the camera. The camera was switched to wifi enabled, and had recognized my wireless router.
I uninstalled and re-installed the EOS Utility software from the disc. No difference.
If anyone has any suggestions what may be causing this hiccup, I would be delighted to hear from you.

 9.
I have been using the 6D since January 17th - have taken just over 1,200 shots, using their 70-200mm f2.8, and their 24-105mm lenses. The only time I have found the autofocus to be completely useless was in trying to capture a flight of startled ducks taking off in the distance with tree branches in the foreground. The focus was jumping about all over the place but you would expect that with virtually any autofocus camera in that situation. I should have set it to manual focus into the middle distance, and closed down the lens a little - everyone can be wise after the event! In recent days I have been experimenting with setting the focus just to the centre point, and I have had no other issues with focus. I have also to get to grips with the various alternative settings for focus which are available on the 6D.

 10.
I bought a Canon 6D about a month ago - you may want to know that the GD-c3R remote control I bought for my EOS 50D also works in the new 6D!

I am still looking for the wifi remote app for Symbian phones. It seems Canon's Remote App will only work in Androids/Iphone etc. If anyone comes across a Symbian app which works please let me know.

 11.
John, That is reassuring. I found a site which shows in great detail which leica lenses can be used with various DSLRs and provides information on sources for the various sorts of conversion collars available since I bought my cheap and cheerful one some years ago.
In case others may find it helpful, here is the link to it:
http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Leica_db.html

 12.
I bought the 35-70mm and the 70-210mm, new, back in the mid-eighties when I bought a Leica R4 - the Leica dealer recommended them to me. Years later, after having had a Canon 50D for a few months, I discovered there was a conversion collar available from Hong Kong, for about $20 from memory, which gave them a new lease of life, although they did have to be used on its M (Manual) setting, and of course you had to focus manually.
About a week ago, I bought the new Canon full format 6D. Imagine my joy at discovering that they work on that as well. I use the 70-210 mainly with a Leitz 2x Extender, which is giving you an f8 largest aperture effectively, but the high ISO capability of the Canon 6D and great noise reduction means this does not adversely affect the results.
I must remember to tell the wife to put these on ebay eventually, rather than bury them with me!
To see some examples, have a trawl through here, if you like:
http://www.panoramio.com/photo_explorer#view=photo&position=0&with_photo_id=83856923&order=date_desc&user=527975&tag=best

 13.
I thought there may be some interest in my discovering that my Angenieux lenses, bought years ago for use with my Leica R4, work just fine with my new Canon 6D, with a Leitz 2x Extender, which gives me a maximum 410mm lens. I am using the same Hong Kong-sourced conversion collar I used for the Canon 50D, and it seems to work perfectly well. Obviously focus is manually, and the EXIF data defaults to show a 50mm lens is in use, but other than that, I am very happy to find that the high ISO facility within the Canon 6D compensates for what is effectively an f8 setting with the Leitz 2x extender attached.
Here is a link to an image taken using this setup this morning: />
I wonder if anyone else has been experimenting to see what lenses actually can be used with the Canon 6D, that they may have felt were obsolete?

 14.
Jos, I finally got through to Adobe now. As you say, no upgrade available, and CS6 is around £600 I believe. She tried to sell me a subscription service for around £17 p.m. which for someone using it professionally is probably an affordable expense, buty not something I want to pay when I have a perfectly good version of CS4 already, and the DNG workaround.
Goodbye to new versions of Adobe! I will work just fine converting to DNG when I need to.
In fact the Canon 6D's internal conversion to jpgs seems to do a pretty good job for the vast majority of images, in any case.
