  1. <p>DO NOT USE BLUDOMAIN!!<br>

I have had nothing but a total lack of customer service with these people. Sure they're nice and all if you ever meet them in person, they just have absolutely no idea what customer service is. It is hands down the worst customer service I have ever dealt with from ANY company. Go somewhere else if you are a business, it's not worth the headaches.</p>

  2. Hi everyone, I'm doing a job for an engineering firm. This is the first paid job doing any type of architectural

work. I am just getting started in the business side of photography. I am giving them a flat rate based on my

estimates on $85/hr. I figure this is probably a little low but I don't have the experience to feel comfortable

charging more quite yet. My question for the forum is what to charge for several prints they want to hang on the

wall. They want 4 to 6 prints of 11x14 to 16x20. They will be unframed but mounted. I will receive credit for the

shots. They will be in a fairly low traffic office. I am thinking of charging around $125 per print. I am making

most of my money on the time and not the prints. There will be much more work to follow so I want to start a good

relationship. I will not make future money on prints so I don't want this to be a point of contention. thanks for

    all the help.

  3. Jennifer, I found your question as I was looking into information as I am getting ready to start my business. I don't know if it helps but I thought I would offer up what I plan to do and why.

Being offered a job was part of the catalyst to me starting a business. As a new paid photographer I need a portfolio to prove my abilities. If someone comes to me as a client, and they want a CD with a set number of images, they will pay per image with the understanding that they now own that image and I have given up control of it. This will ideally be mostly in the case of being used for web sites and such. This will not be cheap as I understand I am loosing control of my images. Right off the top of my head I would expect at least a couple hundred dollars per image on CD (and I am just beginning as a paid photographer). This per image fee will be in addition to my flat session fee. The other option is for me to sell prints. I would much rather do this but I realize, as you point out, that this is not always practical in this day and age.

If I go to someone I want to shoot in an effort to expand my portfolio I may not charge them at all for my time but charge them for prints or trade their time for a CD of images. I realize this last part doesn't apply too much to your scenario, just thought I'd throw that thought in.

In short, I think it is a lot to ask of a photographer to give up his/her image on a CD. You can expect to pay a large amount for taking control of an image vs having a print of an image.

  4. Can someone please explain why cameras, such as the Canon 30D in my case, have

"extended range" ISO sensitivities that you have to go into the menus to enable?

Why aren't they just selectable like all the other ranges. Why do I have to

enable ISO 3200 why cant I just select it like 1600?

  5. I am new to DSLR. I have a Canon 30D and recently bought a B+W 093 IR filter. It

was my understanding (perhaps incorrectly) that this was all I would need to

take IR images. I have had success getting the images, however they all have a

circular haze in the center of the image that is only present when using this

filter. It is present regardless of orientation to the sun (shaded or not). This

is ruining every IR picture. Is this a filter flaw or am I just missing

    something here?

Any help would be appreciated as this isn't a cheap filter and I leave for Italy

in a couple days and was looking forward to playing. I have attached one of the

    problem images

    Thanks, Mark
