Awesome capture Allan. I am a sucker for Tigers being from Bengal, the place of 'Royal Bengal Tiger'. 'Tiger..Tiger burning bright in the forests of the night...'

Amalda I love this one. Growing up in Kolkata this picture has a very special meaning for me. Yes... every kid I knew, myself included of course, would try to sit right next to the tram driver. As in your picture, on his left he has the control for speed and on the right the brakes which would make a hissing sound when applied. The horn had more of a metallic sound of some metal rod hitting another metal piece. This he would do with his foot by stepping on a round button that would go 'Clink', 'Clink' warning people walking, crossing, not paying attention, to get out of the way. Everyone took the very slow moving tram for granted. One great advantage of trams was that you could always board on or off it while it was still in motion. Now they are relics of past. One day they will be all gone. I was in Kolkata last December and went to Kalighat tram depot just to see them coming in and out of the depot. It was great fun. I can very proudly say that 'Ami das paysa (first class fare) bhadar trame charechi ek kale'. The gentlest of all vehicles, trams of Kolkata run by the drivers in Khaki uniform with monumental patience, is so deeply etched in the memory that I had to write this and share it with you and all other tram lovers. Asesh Dhanyabad.
