I am covering a couple of social events and want to get in close. Not necessarily portraits but just close without literally being in the speakers faces I also want to capture guests as they socialize, etc. Nothing for pay but just casual events. I do have a 17-50 F2.8 which i will utilize for more formal portraits of guests. I will certainly bounce the flash, I use a Demb Flip-it.

Hi,

I picked up a Tamron 70-300 VC lens and plan to use this for some indoor shots. I know it's not an F2.8 lens. However, the lens fits within the budget. Would I be able to use this lens with a Nikon SB700 flash? If yes, what settings do you recommend?

@ Jeffrey - using a single flash. I will be using the Demb flip-it/diffuser.
@ Mark - I am a family member and mainly shooting to practice with Canon equipment. Besides that I am a lil outta practice....so that complicates things.

I just picked up a 580ex II flash in the nick of time. I am photographing a wedding (not as a paid pro but mainly out of practice) this weekend. I have an off-camera TTL cable, bracket, and demb flip-it. I successfully used this type of setup w/ N*kon equipment.
In the past I have used Stroboframe but this time I opted to get the Alzo bracket. Anyone using this bracket? Any tips?
Anyhow looking for quick tips. I set the flash in ETTL which I know is not the preferred method but w/o time to really figure out settings...I probably will go this route.

What settings should I look for on my T1i and on the flash?

How can I disable pre-flash? I assume the camera and flash will want to pre-flash by default.

I want to particularly minimize shadows but get pleasing results. I worked through the N*kon equipment w/o problems. I am a fairly experienced photographer as well.

I purchased a Promaster Deluxe TTL Off-camera remote cord for use with my Canon 580ex II flash and Canon Rebel T1i. From what I could see it is compatible/comparable to the OC-E3? However I could not get a 100% confirmation. Anyone using a Promaster? Is the cord compatible with the Canon OC-e3 TTL cord? The OC-e3 apparently works best with the 580ex II flash. The Promaster is built better from all indications.

Hi - I know there are quite a few places to get a camera repaired/CLA'd. I found Morgantown and SLR35, both of whom look ok. I picked up an AE-1 P recently and just want a reasonably priced CLA including shutter squeal fix.

Also looking for suggestions for a wide angle lens in FD mount...again reasonably priced.

Thanks.

KEH has always been great. Their rating system is top notch and very reliable. Their BGN grade is what other sellers might call "very good" or "excellent".

I cleaned a K100D sensor for a friend just the other day. I use the the CH sensor view:
and Giottos Rocket Blower.
This is the dry method which is recommended....use the wet method if the dry method does not completely clean your sensor.

Hi folks,

I am a new Canon user...coming over Nikon mainly. What are your thoughts on the T1i, good, bad, or ugly? I looked around for an upgrade path...I didnt have many lenses for Nikon so it wasnt too bad. The T1i seemed appealing because $$ is tight. However, I am wondering if I made the right choice.

Anyway I am sure by now people have had a chance to use the T1i and wondered what you thought? Is this camera comparable in terms of image quality to the 50d...as it is touted to be?
Thank you.

I hear the Targus grips is actually better quality. Battery loading system is different??! Anyhow I have a MB-D200 coming soon...so'll find out!

I believe you will be fine sticking with the D200. The D200 is "new" for me right now and I have not begun to explore the possibilities. The D300 is a step up but as others might have said - a "step up" happens just about every 18 months. I had the D80 - waited until the D200 came down in price and really dont feel like I am missing anything right now.

Try it with the rectangular adapter. Unless I am missing something...it seems to work great for me. Not sure what you call it but I did have to remove a larger threaded adapter from the DR4. Once I did that the DR4 screwed right into the rectangular adapter w/o problems. If you buy from Cameta - they will gladly take returns.

I have been hearing quite a bit about the RRS L plate but I am not quite sure
what it does exactly. What purpose does it serve? Apologies if this sounds like
a newbie question. I believe it has something to do with mounting on a tripod.
Will it work with any tripod? I use a Manfrotto w/ 3265 head.
Thanks.

Go filterless. Keep the hood on the lens at all times.

I used the D80 for a few weddings. Never had focus issues. I used a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 for all of the photos.

Hi. I just bought the DR-4 RAF and it is beautiful. Works great on the D200. You will need an eyepiece adapter which is available @ BH for around $4.00. I found the info simply by searching.
Nikon EYEPIECE ADAPT f/N2-4-5-6000 SER/FM10 - NIEPAN6006
Hope this helps. BTW - Cameta has the DR4 on Eboy!
