  1. I use a Powerlook 2000 (1000x2000 dpi) and it does just fine, especially on MF film. Next step up is PhotoCD. Top line is drum scanner.

Most important is original image quality. You can't take a bad original and turn it into a work of art, no matter what the scanner. Garbage in, garbage out!

I can use the scanner to get average-good quality 35 mm scans to letter-size. Using MF film, great quality!

  2. Ray, as a recent purchaser of a 645 system, I am extremely pleased with image quality, handling and durability. Although the controls using buttons are not my fave, I have adjusted.

Before I purchased, I looked seriously at the 67. I found several people who were >>former<< owners, mostly because the size was just too cumbersome for them. All switched back to 35 mm. If you're doing studio work, you should look at Mamiya.

  3. Recently updated equipment to P&S 35mm and 645, kept 35mm Nikon equipment as well, but haven't touched it since.I find the quality of the P&S images at least equal; camera much more convenient to use.

Both new items wonderful, used for different purposes. Cost a major factor, MF about double 35mm, but I find I am more careful and deliberate with MF, much less likely to blast off five shots. I'm sure I would like large format as well.
