Any critque on this photo will be welcome.

Thanks Kathy the scarf does dominate the photo. I never really noticed until you mentioned it. I guess I was more focused on the face and did not pay attention to the huge scarf.

This pic has been posted here for a long time but I never got round to
asking for a critique. Let me know what you think about this pic.

Shot at the medevial fest a couple of years ago.

Glad you like this one. I have yet to find the B&W ones of my kids. They should be on a cd but I never wrote on them and I have around 50-60 that are not labled.

Nice one. I have wanted to capture the northern lights for a long time. Sometimes see them where I live but I never seem to have a camera handy.

Really beautiful shot. Lovely work.

Makes me laugh. Cool pig

I do prefer this shot to the other one that you have uploaded. In this one the light is better controlled and is not blowing out part of the wall.

I would just love to sit there and chill out with a couple of beers. It raining and dull grey here in Finland today so looking at this is rather uplifting. I checked out the horiznotal version too but I prefer this one. It seems most restful.

Here is one more for you. I left out the aggressive sharpening on this one and toned it a little with the hue saturation. I somehow prefere this version to my first one.

Hi, I first selected just the snow and increased the contrast as much as I dared. I guessed that the light was quite hard so thought to make the contrast rather high. The I applied unsharp mask to the whole image first with a large radius and small percentage about 20 radius and around 10 percent. That bumps the local contrast up even more. Then I applied a more normal unsharp mask radius around 0.7 and percent around 100-150.. Then a tweaked the contrast a little more for the whole image with the curves. Lastly I selected the middle of the image using a large feather radius and inverted the selection so the edges of the image were selected and I then darkened the edges using curves.
As you may have guessed I am enjoying rather high contrast images at the moment.

I like this shot but felt that the snow was too grey, here is one that I played with a little.

Lucy I like this image you have done a good job with this. The limited DOF and softness of the background compliments the softness of the seedlings. Even the title Holding On fits this image so well. I see you live in Bermudam nice place. I spent two summers in Bermuda while I worked as a cruiseship photographer I really loved it there.

Well you can probably guess what I am going to do to this. Looks nice in B&W. Hope you like it.
Cheers...

Len I like it the tree is just dwarfed by those rocks. Great texture in this too. The contrast seems just right to me. You should be well pleased with this one. I am not to sure about the large text on the frame I have use large text on some of my frames and I am not sure if I like anymore.

Len I first selected the highlights using the select color range then I feathered the selection 2pixels. The using the curves I pulled a little more contrast into the highlights. Then after I deselected everying ctrl D I used the curves again to adjust the overal contrast and density. Finaly I did some USM the add a bit more spark to the image.

Hard to say how you could have made this image stronger. Maybe a little more contrast in the cloud may have helped a bit. Maybe a bit darker sky. I had a bit of a go myself. How do you like it.

Nice portrait. The B&W tones really suite the subject and the B&W conversion has worked well. Some nice tight head shots with strong directional lighting would also work well with this subject.
