1.
For the 580EX II, the RF Interference Reducing Mod will completely eliminate the need for the AC7.
A Dremel cutout in the side of the plastic for the AC7 will allow the AC7 to have an external power cable inserted, or the side plastic can be carefully softened, and remolded to all ow this power plug to fit into the flash unit.
2.
It sounds like you need a different model for your online gallery, as that should be a revenue stream for you with the only extra work on your part is to upload the edited images to the gallery itself. It seems that most of the online hosting sites will take care of all the payments, printing of the images, and then shipping, and just send you a check less the costs of hosting.

  3.
Shelly:
First off, sorry to hear of your troubles, but I agree with many others here to move forward, and make the lemonade...

Use the existing pictures as a "joke" album, and maybe decorate it with stickers and handwritten notes as if making a scrapbook, trying to make fun of the situation for the future. I don't want to make light of the $250, but you will get more aggravation trying to recover this amount than it is probably worth.
You will have much more fun, and get some really memorable results having a real pro take a "trash the dress" type of shoot as an after effect.

We (Justin Bass Photography) just did this (as a goodwill freebee) for a recent bride who also was unhappy with her original photographer. We met this unhappy bride while she was a guest at another wedding we were shooting. The "trash the dress" shoot was so much fun for all, and now they have terriffic memories!

Here is a link to the blog showing some of the images, and then the full slideshow link is at the bottom of the post:
http://justinbassphotography.blogspot.com/search/label/Trash%20Your%20Dress
Good Luck, and let us know what happens!

  4. Chris-

I have done what you are asking some time ago, and had it listed on my site, but the Nikon iTTL system gives unreliable results at present. I had some pretty good Nikon pros help me in field testing, but it never worked as intended. It seems that only one flash unit can be in iTTL mode at a time, and the other needs to be in manual mode, which is not what you are really asking.

This dual system works just fine in the Canon world of eTTL, but again, only 2 flash units can be connected together. I have tried connecting up to 6 identical Canon 580 EX units in the initial testing, but only 2 seemd to work properly.

  5. I have been shortening this cord, as well as lengthening it using a fixed length cable, or a variable length extension cable as a service to others for some time now. I actually do these mods for the Canon as well as the Nikon cords, and unfortunately, the Nikon cord, especially the SC-29, is a bit fussier to do.

If you are good with very small space soldering...it is easy to do!

  8. Mark U - The aux sync mod I provide for the whole line of Canon (and other) flash units can be used with any radio setup, not just the Pocket Wizards. I also do this mod for the ST-E2, and the Off Camera Cord as well. Since I first came up with this mod, there have been posts around for the DIY crowd to do the same. Some of these people have even sent me their units after they have tried it, for some fixup...

I am glad Canon finally added this feature into their new model, maybe they will introduce all the newer models with this feature also.

  9. Thanks for the kind words, Bill.

    To all:

I have also been adding the sync jack and extension cables to the OffCameraShoeCord2, and the sync jack to the ST-E2, as well as all the other Canon units that Canon "forgot" to include with this capability. People who recognize the usefulness of this have been sending me units from as far away as the UK, and the modification takes a day or less for me to do. One sync cable is included with each mod, either 6' coiled or custom length straight.

The hot shoe(F) to miniphone adapter works just fine most of the time for many people, but it is another item to keep track of, and then you can't use the E-TTL functions of the on camera flash.

Here is a recent eBay link that gives more details and explanations, but I can always answer email directly if additional details are needed.
